To be real I doubt if anyone here knows enough about any of the units to be able to give an accurate answer.

Everytime I check this thread it gets more and more crazy, it's like the people that post last never even bothered to read any of the preivious 90+ posts.
I will say that I am disappointed that none of my military breatheren joined me in swearing off answering this unanswerable question of who would win in a fight and just spreading misinformation about SOF. Where is the dude that started this thread? I haven't heard much from him along the way.
This is what I will do, I am going to put this out there for everyone to argue over now instead of this who would win in a fight crap. Look for my new thread that will be entitled " Who has the toughest training". That is a more appropriate title and one that can be debated easier. Keep an eye out

240, I know where your coming from, and where you are going with this, but I have learned over time that no matter how hard you try to put the "CORRECT" info out there, that it dosen't mater. 75% of the time it gets lost in the thread due to the fact that people read Post #1 then hit reply.

I make attempts to help/lead people to the correct info, yet you know as well as I do, you can not help those who will not help themselves.

I orginally started to post more here, but after I saw your post, and a few of the others, then noticed that no one paid attention and continued to reply with whatever answer, I realized this was another one of those threads where people don't really care, they just want the post count by saying the first one that comes to mind.

Good luck on the battle in here, and I will still follow, but I will not waist my time on those who don't care. There is good info in this thread, plus links to people who can answer quetions more specificaly for those who DO care. For the ones who care, they will catch the ggod info/links and will use it to their advantages. For the others let them get their post count up.

Exactly. This is a six man team, so you've got the best people out of like 120 recruits. That's a pretty refined selection process.

Weighted topic man...I tend to hear a lot about these guys throughout the year. I honestly can't pick just one over the other, these guys all are damn good at what they do.


A story i'll never forget was a SEAL speaker coming in telling us how he went through some of his training...he and two other SEALs were placed in a simulated POW camp. A week later the senior officers were getting pissed because of hearing no response from the camp guards, so they decided to drive out there. When they arrive, all twelve guards are hog-tied inside a bamboo cage with the three SEALs asking what took them so long.

Hah, he said about a week later they issued a rule to not allow more than one SEAL per camp in future trainings.

Being an E5 does not make one an expert in SpecOps bro... Honestly that's even worse to know in light of the level of misinformation that you have provided. For all of you that are sincerely interested in garnering accurate information regarding the SpecOps environment please go to http://www.specialoperations.com there are a lot of former and a few current BTDT's there. But I will warn you against going there with these "who's better" type questions because you will get banned quick. Marine Recon, just from what I've read. They, damn that chick has nice calves, anyway they go through sternious training regimens, it has something like a 90% dropout rate. Mostly due to injuries, voluntary releases, etc. Those that do make it through the initial training phase, only 2% are picked at the end.

Their POW training is pretty ****ed up too, after the 'tryouts' the soldiers bonded through various training exercises. Their POW training consisted of a white recon soldier being forced to put on a KKK costume and drag a black recon soldier around in a chain for a week in a POW camp. It's all pretty ****ed up, the book I was reading describes one of the soldiers saying that after the physical stuff, the psychological techniques and behaviour analysis really messes you up.

gotta go with the Navy SEALs. I was actually strongly considering going into the navy and becomeing a SEAL...SEALs have the longest, hardest training in the world.

befor saying something, make sure its correct. Buds is not the hardest. delta force is along with the british Sas, having a graduation rate of around 8% makes the seals 25% look like childs play. you wanted to jain the navy just so do all the cool stuff seals do. i know seals, you would last a chance. you have to be smart aswell, no meathead like yourself

Dumbest post ever. If you knew ****all about the US military, you'd know that SEALS and Pararescue are extremely small and selective units that go in to do specific espionage and rescue missions. SEALS are not some badass ultimate warriors, and neither are pararescuemen. They're highly trained, athletic and excellent shots, but they are not one man armies. They do specialty jobs that require intelligence, finesse and pinpoint accuracy. They're not a lethal assault force, never have been and never will be.

Recon marines vs. rangers would be a more accurate assessment because they are both the "elite" version of infantry, marines vs. army respectively. For that, I'd say rangers would come out ahead because they are much more heavily armed than Recon marines, but it'd be close. Both rangers and recon are elite infantry assault forces, who focus only on killing, rather than specialty missions.


Logical grouping for speciality operators:

Special Forces (Army)
Pararescue (AF)
SEAL (Navy)
Force Recon (Marine, differentiate from Recon)

Logical grouping for elite infantry/combat units:

Rangers (Army)
Recon (Marine)

That's it.


Oh... one more thing about special forces/etc. They're designed to operate in enemy indigenous areas and work more by subverting and training resistance fighters, sapping key areas and sniping top targts. I've worked with them in Iraq, and they're great guys, but a 10 man SF team would get their **** smeared by my regular heavy weapons infantry platoon, just because their role and ours are totally different. We have automatic grenade launchers, .50 cal machine guns and homing missile launchers. Win.

first off the be a "SEAL" u need to be invited to UDT basic underwater demo training ,then u have to be to 10% of you class to get the invite , and u need to be a E4 in rank and den u have to be in a combat type job b4 u go to UDT to go to BUDS , to be a overrated SEAL,

RANGER BABY, we do all the jobs they do and more , unless its SEAL team 6 or 7 then u got to be the top 10% all of SEALS , and screw them we got DELTA wich is the best of the best end of story ,

DON'T ever join the navy to be a SEAL, they will not take navy , the navy has no combat type jobs , its funny i know cus its the navy SEALS but they take marines and army , wen you join the navy , u don't train with a gun in you hand like the army and marines

It was mentioned earlier that those who really are interested in learning more about the community and the components of it, will find the appropriate resources to do so.

I did find it interesting though that AF CCT was never mentioned.

But yes, I do agree with you, this thread is full of fail, even by one person who wanted to ensure that everyone knew that he was in the military. I truly hope that people don't base their perceptions of military personnel off of his posts.
