would it beneficial for me to get Olympic weightlifting shoes over like Rogues over say a pair of Chuck Taylors for weight training. I am training for shot put and hammer throw so I will be doing olympic lifts but not olympic lifts exclusively. Will they be advantageous to me for things like deadlifts and squats too? Thanks fellas

I'd never lifted in oly shoes and decided to buy a pair. I got the adistar's that were previously $200 on sale for $150 from dynamic.
Just trying 'em on and bw squatting in my kitchen I can feel how nice they will be. However, they are really tight in the front of my feet (around the ball area). I always considered myself to have normal (not wide) feet.
Its tight enough to be uncomfortable, and that's with no weight. With a couple hundred pounds on my back I'm afraid my feet will bust out the sides. Debating on whether to exchange for a larger size or just return them and go for the rogues.
its weird they make them so narrow though. I haven't met many oly lifters with skinny little feet that would fit into these. So be warned, if you are considering the adidas be sure you've got narrow feet, else you might want to look elsewhere.
Anyway, its probably going to be a costly mistake. Dynamic doesn't appear to have the friendliest return policies.

strange, my adistars fit me just fine and I think I have big feet, a very comfortable shoe relative to my ironworks of the same size.

Ok guess my feet are wider than I thought.
I should note that the shoes themselves are very high quality. If not for the narrowness I would be very happy with them.
So everybody that got the rogues is happy with them? Sizing runs 1/2 size small right (if I'm a 12, order 11.5?)?

I am wondering the exact same thing. I'm about to purchase my rogues but am pretty worried about the size.
Being only 15 my feet are still growing... I wear a size 14 athletic shoe, so that means I buy a 13.5. The only thing is the Rogues are 110 bucks. A lot of cash to only use for 1 year.
How important is it that you drop the size down by .5? Can I get away with buying a 14, and just grow into them so they'll last a while?

so im buying my first oly shoe, and am considering the rogues, however my foot is still growing and am afraid the $100 would only last a year at best, so my question is:
has anyone had success in buying the VS shoes with the crossfit code? (cf1002 i think or xfit) i dont know where to put it in

I own the original do win shoes. they are nice but the heel quickly becomes too tall as your flexibility increases. Im gonna order the rogues soon

My do-wins arrived today. I got them off of http://store.wfwclub.com/blsudosh.html for $85.
And then when I open the package...they're used? Nowhere on the site does it mention the shoes being used. A little bit disappointed.PR's:
Bench: 300 lbs
Back Squat: 380 lbs
Clean and Jerk: 130 kg (286 lbs)
Snatch: 100 kg (220 lbs)
Deadlift: 5 x 345 lbs

they're used? That bs. Pendlay is a standup guy. I would e-mail him and im sure he will fix this.
I have th eoriginal do-wins. THe heel is too high for me now. WOuld it be worth it to get some Rogues? THe only thing holding me back is that adidases are only a little more costly

can someone help me pick a shoe?
i have concerns on the VS athletics, the do wins, and the rouges
VS and Do-win
-some have said in this thread that the heel is too high for them. i can hit atg back and front squat, get in a deep squat on a clean and snatch, and have good flexibility on OH squats
-b/c of this, i think i might be better for the Rouges but...
Rouges
-im 16 and i wear a size 11. if i get a 10.5 in Rouges, im confident i will outgrow them soon, and i dont want to have to spend another $110 for some lifting shoes
whats everyone think?
thanks

If you're going to outgrow them, and money is a consideration, either buy the cheapest one's available (VS) or stick with All-Star's until your feet quit growing. These are not going to be shoes that you'll want to "grow into," they need to fit snuggly, so I wouldn't waste money on getting top of the line b/c they won't last you very long. I'd say stick with All-Stars for now.

Well, for used shoes I will say they were in pretty good condition. Comfortable and fit great. Actually I wouldn't have been able to tell they were used if it wasn't for a couple of things that really stood out.
A stain thing on the back of the shoe.
Some sort of crusty stuff on the bottom that I could scrape off with my fingernail (there was a little more before the pic).
And yup, I sent him an email earlier about it.PR's:

Back Squat: 380 lbs

not sure how they compare really, but they don't seem any to tall
definitely didn't need to go any smaller then my normal size on them either.

Glenn e-mailed me this regarding the shoes.
Those are not used shoes... They are, however, shoes that have sat in my warehouse for around 2 years (they are the last of the 2006 models). I did not package and ship them myself, If I had I probably would have tried to clean them. I can only guess that sometime in the last year or two, they picked up some dirt or grime or something... Most likely when they were moved a few months ago from my old warehouse to my new one.
If you are not happy with them, I will be happy to refund your money. Sorry they didnt arrive in perfect condition.
Guess I was a little quick on freaking over used shoes. And yes, I'm keeping them.PR's:
Bench: 300 lbs
Back Squat: 380 lbs
Clean and Jerk: 130 kg (286 lbs)
Snatch: 100 kg (220 lbs)
Deadlift: 5 x 345 lbs

Since the shoes are expensive, I'd probably change into some running shoes so as to now wear them out quicker than needed.
How many gymrats does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Seven. One to screw in the bulb and six to say, "Bro, you're huge, man! Ripped!"
