A great basic understanding of the human body really helps a lot. Being able to explain stuff on a physiological level really helps you make intelligent decisions, and gives you the tools to provide in-depth explanations to clients.

I really got a lot of good use from a basic physiology class i took. Of course intro human anatomy class is a good place to start as well before you get into more specific classes such as kineseology. These are good places to start....

My older clients prize our relationship as much or more than my fitness knowledge. Learning to empathize and relate to others in invaluable. They want to know you really listen and understand (or at least try to understand). They want a friend who is helping them. Not sure what class would help with that though. Through my ACE certification I have access to information on training older people which pointed out certain health limitations and how to work around them. Experience, creativity and being flexible with their programs has been what's helped me the most.
