Which exercise shapes the lower chest in an arc like way? Or does it become like that if you dont do any lower pec exercises(declines and stuff)? Because i see some ppl whose chests are really angular at the bottom, they are almost like a plate, they look like 90 degrees on the lower inner part and 90 degrees on the lower outer part and the rest lower chest is a straight line!

about declines though come to think of it i just remembered of a guy who posted a thread here some time ago whose nipples were a bit higher than anothers and the advice that was given was that he should cut down on declines. thats the reason i didnt do any exercises for the lower pecs in the first place.

any advice on that anyone? how can u shape that arc with declines/dips without getting ur chest to look like ur nipples are higher than usual? or is it a matter of just shaping and not adding lots of mass to the lower pecs? i know its a stupid question but...

bump, i know it's been some months but... what i meant is, how do you train your chest for the nipples to look downwards instead of horizontal? im sorry about the nipple thing i just don't know how to say it otherwise, i can search for some pics in the net to illustrate my point if anyone wants me to.

well, how do u prevent ur pecs from becoming like this with the declines that u guys suggested? by doing even more declines? that is, is it a matter of more mass on the lower pecs?
found it from google this pic, its from a site called flickr. no homo btw, there are some other images in the same gallery that are somewhat dubious...

heh, i do know it sounds funny but i couldnt say it otherwise...
is it or is it not declines for the shape of pecs i posted in the pics? not the first link, the second two which are displayed (dont know how i did it btw).
the confusing thing is they dont seem to have a massive upper chest though, especially the one in the red. if it were upper then there wouldnt be a lot of mass at the lower cut would there? i mean where the pecs end and the abs start. isnt upper mainly the area under the collarbone?

There's no "official" designation for where there is an imaginary dividing line between upper and lower, but if you just think about it, in order to build up the area above the nipple, you need to recruit the muscle in a slightly upward motion.
Guys that only do flat bench end up with a lot of lower pec muscle that looks droopy compared to the pancake flat upper.
One other point, though, as Flip said, the bigger difference between your first pic and those last two is just more overall development, but especially upper.Time To Re-Schedule

when several ppl suggested declines before i sort of thought that maybe doing a lot of declines will give u first the look from the first picture and as the lower (and middle?) chest builds up then it sort of pushes downwards leading to the scenario of the other two pics.
its just that the pecs of the one in the red dont strike me as being very developed on the upper area.

try decline dumbell presses and flys.
also dips will help a lot for the arc. if you nips are sagging, you will need to fill your whole chest out to resolve that problem and that means adding inclines and doing the flat bp as well.“You are not what you were born, but what you have it in yourself to be.”

my pecs are normal, they dont sag at all, its just that im trying to understand why there are so many different pec shapes around. for me the ideal is in the last two pics i posted before and from what u suggested as a whole the way to it is declines and flys.
thanks for the feedback guys.Last edited by meander; 01-01-2009 at 10:47 AM.
