Can't Do Squats! Problems With My Leg! (What's Wrong With Me?) [DEAD SERIOUS]

I do squats and have a tough time performing them because of my right leg. It doesn't hurt or anything - I can run, walk and kick just fine. It's the alignment itself. Something there needs to be fixed. I'm also broke as a joke and can't see a specialist for this. What is there for me to do?

I'm also afraid that I might snap (break) something when I do squats because of the hard time I have trying to make my leg even with the other while doing them. It bothers me (it's discomforting). It's also discomforting (somewhat) when I walk. My boxers, in the middle (where the pee hole is) ends up moving to the side of my leg because of the way I walk. I don't walk funny. It's the muscle and bone set up (I guess)

Because of difficulty doing squats (I can't go all the way down), I do bench squats (box squats).

So pretty much, what's wrong with me?? Can this be corrected?? I'd like to be able to walk without that slight discomfort and to also do squats in proper form.

it might help others if you elaborated a bit...like how exactly is the "alignment" off, why cant you bend down all the way, and what you mean when you say you try to make your leg "even" with the other. just a thought, i have no idea what it could be but for others out there

There's an imbalance with the physical status of my legs. I've never been injured there and you can hardly see the discrepency. I can only bend halfway when doing squats. I suspect the problem starts with where my hip and my leg intersects. Also, i've noticed a very slight discrepency with my knees. One leg stands more straighter than the other. You can barely notice it, but it's there. My right leg knee sticks out a little to the side while the other is as straight as a line. However, when I stand, I put pressure on both legs and not on one more than the other. However, when I sit, I feel like I put more pressure with my left buttock than with my right. Also, my leg wants to stick out to the side (outwardly) than the other (which points straight) when I stand.

If your afraid of "breaking" something and you are unable to correctly perform the exercise because of your right leg, i would suggest not doing squats until you know its safe and are able to correctly (safely) perform them. Also i think you should get actual medical advice, i know you said you have no money but you are better off seeing someone now then doing an injury and needing surgery which is much more expensive.

I dont think anyone here could tell you what it is without actually seeing what your talking about.

don't try doing anything you're uncomfortable with obviously...i guess this is the case you read about on the workout machines when it says, " consult your physician before starting an exercise routine."

You're going to have to do your best to solve this discrepancy with stretching until you can see a qualified professional.

Try hip flexor, glute, hamstring and quad stretching to start with.

I wouldnt say that it is "unfixable" but without being examined by a professional we cant say what it is or if its fixable.

If you can see that there is something wrong with your leg and it is causing problems when trying to squat, since squats (when performed incorrectly) are a dangerous exercise i would say you are best to seek professional advice.

Give stretching a go and see if it improves at all, it may take awhile too since stretching doesnt help overnight it takes time. Id also advise to stay away from squats until you can perform them correctly, have you given leg press a go??

Start stretching, everything else is in your mind. On leg press years ago one leg would go straight and the other wouldnt, simple stretching fixed it.

Ok, how would I go about stretching?? What's the technique??

BTW, my trouble is with squats. Not leg press. Hope the rest (as you say) is in my mind. Can't go all the way down when I squat. Also, it bothers (a little) when I walk.

see, at this level of knowledge it's absolutely impossible to get advice from anyone here on how to fix it. even if someone knew what it was i doubt you'd be able correct it because you lack the understanding.

IMO what you should do is educate yourself on anatomy, just like you wanted to become a physical therapist yourself and were preparing for an exam. use the internet to get information or to learn where to get more in depth information. i guess you won't get far on bbing sites, check out medical sites, maybe there's a message board for physical therapists or something like that.

another option would be to change your finacial disaster...

IMO what you should do is educate yourself on anatomy, just like you wanted to become a physical therapist yourself and were preparing for an exam. use the internet to get information or to learn where to get more in depth information. i guess you won't get far on bbing sites, check out medical sites, maybe there's a message board for physical therapists or something like that.

another option would be to change your finacial disaster...
    x2 educate yourself...
find where it hurts/has a problem, eg pain in the buttocks...type it into google...go from there etc

Here's a website to get you started:
    http://triggerpoints.net/

Find the picture of where it hurts, locate the muscle responsible, rub/put pressure where it says "X," if you can't rub it because its in a weird area, get a tennis ball and lie on that area (e.g. your lower back)

Sounds to me like a ligament problem. as several folks said above, your best bet would be to start S-T-R-E-T-C-H-I-N-G

how flexable are your hamstrings... can you stand and touch your toes without bending your knees (or get close) also see how far you can bend over keeping your back perfectly straight (dont bend at the lower back only at the hips).
