Hello, good people.
The notion of manliness has been undergoing a major change recently, perhaps the most alarming change in history. As the human mind evolved, new social interactions came to be. While the man was the hunter, the warrior, the tribesman, the family's feeder, he later became the gentleman (which is rather my favourite definition of manliness, hence my handle), the economist, the thinker, and the power of the mind started replacing that of the hands.
Currently, people like Ben Affleck have become the norm which every man should be following. Men who wear makeup, use cosmetics, and tend to look "metrosexual". Bodybuilders are being portrayed in pop culture as homosexual (with all due respect to actual homosexuals who enjoy honing their muscles, but most of you know what I am talking about...), unintelligent, shallow people unable to fathom anything but the physical perfection that they seek.
I would like to read your input about this subject. Do you come across problems in your daily lives related to the new image of bodybuilding ?

Personally, I work out for three main reasons:
- I want to be healthy and strong
- I want to look strong and be a real man physically
- I want girls to love me
I am not metrosexual by any means, I do not shave my legs, butt or chest.
By the way, it's a matter of culture I think - a large number of men are behaving in a quite feminine way because they listen to the wrong people. In my opinion the thought of equality between men and women is the source of all evil in this context. We are not equal, we are different.
Guys need to understand one thing: lots of girls fall in love with homosexual guys because they are similar to their girlfriends or themselves. In order to be amazing in those girls' eyes, you need to act as if you had a vagina.
Real women want real men - guys with power, charisma, intelligence, confidence ... I don't think they give two craps about shaven legs.
(just my opinion)

i think its a stereotype.. .its too broad of to just define bodybuilders = homosexuals
our psyche is more complicated then that, the human mind finds things to obsess over and you cant say they are right or wrong
bodybuilding is someones mental complex... maybe mineStats:
bench 255 x 6 295 x 1
squat 365 x 8 ??? x 1
dead lift 385 x 3 ??? x 1
standing over head press 185 x 5
currently bulking to 225

This is the biggest crock of bull****. Did you take a time machine straight out of the 80's? Lifting is not homosexual today at all. It used to be during like Arnold's time, not now. It is widely accepted. If anything the 'homo-ness' is joked about, similar to going to private all dude school, you joke about the homo-ness, cuz thats what idiots think. I could care less if it seems homo, to be honest, as long as I'm not who cares. I feel good, look good, and can steal your girl, so jump off a bridge.

Irrespectively of whether I agree with you or not, your post above does not refute the prejudice that I talked about. Basically, your valuable post informed me that you feel good, look good, can "steal" my girl, and the brilliant conclusion of the three aforementioned hypotheses is that I should throw myself off a bridge. Am I supposed to take you seriously, kind sir ?

Does one need to be taken seriously? If I'm out stealing girls, I ain't out stealing guys. Go lift, and stop yappin because you can't get a decent body.
And I haven't seen a dose of bodybuilding seen as gay, if it was no straight male would be on here. We just don't give a fukk what you think, it's not gay. Smoke your cigarette, look like Ben Affleck and yeah you're gay. Seriously your comments are straight out of like a 70's article. You're expired.

People who say stupid things that are so general don't get much of a responds from me, because thier intelect and maturaty level usually wouldn't
understand the responce that I'm giving anyway. Now Go work out and stop hating on those men AND WOMEN who take something like bodybuilding seriously. God, what are you 12yrs old......(This was a STUPID thread I can't believe that I actually stop to read it!You're never too old to be the person that you were meant to be.
