    Medicine ball drop on abs?!

I've read various topics which include this principle. Is it true that it's a good exercise for the abdominals? Sounds to me that it might damage the spleen and/or other internal organs.

...show me these threads where being hammered in the stomach with a heavy ball is good for anyone other than a boxer/fighter.

It's a variation of what's called "body hardening." It's designed to toughen an area of the body by numbing it to pain. In the Marines, we strike each other on various nerve centers, including the abdomen, over and over in order to strengthen these areas and diminish pain felt from a blow. It sounds like a medicine ball drop is something similar.

ya in the Marines we did body harding but that was for conditioning not for building muscle

your better off having you and someone else exchange punches to the stomach, then using a medicine ball

    What are you training for?

When I was in martial arts it was typical to have multiple people walk across your stomach, and you were expected to tighten your abs. I know they do similar things in some branches of the military and it does work, but I think it depends on what you're training for.

my martial art does the same thing, I did the drops on the abs with a bowling ball though, 150+ strikes with a 10lber might not do much to make the abs look good but it will sure as hell harden them to take most blows.

It will not help you have great abs. but in martial arts it will strengthen your
stomach incase of someone striking you there.
