Kyle Rittenhouse chased down an unarmed man and shot him four times, including a fatal shot to the back, during a night of unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last August, a prosecutor said Tuesday in opening statements of Rittenhouse's homicide trial.
Rittenhouse, 17 at the time, fired an AR-15-style weapon eight times in all during the unrest: four shots at Joseph Rosenbaum, two shots at an unarmed unknown individual, one shot at an unarmed Anthony Huber and one shot at an armed Gaige Grosskreutz, according to Kenosha County Assistant District Attorney Thomas Binger.
Rosenbaum, 36, and Huber, 26, were killed and Grosskreutz, now 27, was wounded.
"The evidence will show that hundreds of people were out on the streets experiencing chaos and violence and the only person who killed anyone was the defendant Kyle Rittenhouse," Binger said. "We will show you videos of some of the events that night of police, tear gas, rubber bullets and yet the only person who killed anyone was the defendant."
Binger's comments appear intended to undercut Rittenhouse's expected argument that he acted in self-defense and only fired to protect himself.
Rittenhouse, now 18, is charged with five felonies: first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless homicide, attempted first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety. He is also charged with misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon under the age of 18 and a non-criminal violation of failure to comply with an emergency order. He has pleaded not guilty.
The trial is expected to last just over two weeks and will be televised, Kenosha County Circuit Judge Bruce Schroeder said in court. A jury of 20 people, made up of 11 women and nine men, was selected Monday, according to a pool reporter in court. That number will be reduced to 12 when deliberations begin.

If I remember the other guy had a gun. When your life is being threatened, which it was regardless of a gun or not, you defend yourself with whatever means possible. He was there defending businesses earlier from the "peaceful protesters" hence having the gun. This will be an interesting trial and it'll be setting a precedent for similar situations which WILL arise in the future.
If you riot and loot and destroy and the government won't do anything about it, plan on taking some lead. I'm not for any of this however if these mobs of were met with a bit more force I'm guessing that would help mitigate the problems.

I did see a video of him being chased after the first killing. Not sure I have seen the particular video you mention though
"A prosecutor said Rittenhouse set the bloodshed in motion when he triggered a confrontation that night and killed a man with a bullet to the back."
It will all come out in the trial hopefullyAir Force Veteran 1976 - 1999 - Cannabis Enthusiast since the 1960's

1. It wasn’t his business, it wasn’t even his state
2. He’s a minor and doesn’t need a semi automatic to protect himself. He had no business going there being a child. He had no business having that gun
3. If it was his family’s business or home and people were rioting and coming to damage his property, that would be totally different. He traveled states looking to literally kill people.
4. There is a major difference in defending yourself and looking for a fight.
5. BLM people that act out to damage property are in the wrong and in these cases are no longer fighting for any civil rights movement and deserve to go to jail for a very long time.SuperHercules crew

In the first vid he puts out a fire and is surrounded by blood tgristy thugs he shot his out. He had every right and business to put out a fire even if his out of state he better be armed too otherwise they would kill him.
Since when is it illegal to cross a state line and help protect a community from burning? That question is for the poster who keeps saying he hadno business there, I would never vote you into office!

So a child should cross state boarders alone, with a semi automatic to defend businesses, with a much greater and deadlier force than the people harming the business? If he wanted to only defend I don’t think a gun that’s basically an ak-47 would be the first choice. He is not mentally stable.

He shouldn't have been there, he certainly shouldn't have been there with a gun. He was a dumb kid trying to play cop. Beyond that, he also appears to be a bit of an *sshole. Crimes were likely committed but to what degree is very nebulous beyond the ones related to him having the gun. Every single person involved in the Rittenhouse incident were objectively stupid and they all f*cked up. This is a tragedy. And it is becoming more tragic by the day as it is now being used to further polarize already polarized positions.

He was out to “protect the community”. That’s not his job. The American legal system is complicated enough, even for anyone just minding their own business and forced to defend themselves. People who do this kind of stuff are fools and just asking for trouble. Keep your rifle at home. If you’re gonna carry a gun, conceal it and go about your business. The fact that you have a firearm now requires you to be even MORE levelheaded and cool than everyone else because you hold the power to end a life.To resist despair

Trained professionals I imagine. Doesn’t seem like a great idea for people to go out armed to chaotic events because a lot of time its pretty unclear whats actually is happening and without proper training they make mistakes. Grosskreutz is a pretty good example and the ramifications of what can happen. Not seeing the shooting directly, he decided who the perpetrator was and decided to draw his weapon without knowing if that guy even did anything. Him pulling his weapon made him look like a threat and he was shot by the other guy “protecting the community”.To resist despair

Evidence shows the contrary in America. I challenge you to find evidence that good, law abiding citizens cannot protect themselves and others. Your “Imagination” isn’t objective evidence, nor is one isolated case.
The American revolution and civil war not evidence enough? That’s what our values are based on, are they not?One party system; Most Republicans are Democrats, but no Democrats are Republicans.
Hayek and Mises were right; they're all socialists.

I had a feeling Id this from you, have you ever heard of people crossing state lines for charity work? That's what this is, I get a kick how you defend creeps I bet if Kyle stopped looters from burning your business you wouldn't even shake his hand.
Here's one for you, a truck driver just got elected to senate in NJ he said his not sure what to do but he is not a elected leader, he is an elected rep and will speak upfor the people, I bet that scares the puss out ya, you'd rather have a stealing crook lie to you.

I don’t really think I mentioned that. "He came from a different state" is a bit of a dumb talking point in my opinion. He lived 15 minutes a way, the guy crossed state lines to get a burger before. He likely did travel to the protests with an agenda. Maybe starting sh*t was part of it, who knows. He is also 17, and 17 year olds are idiots. I think its also possible he wanted to live his right-wing fantasy of being a cool guy protecting businesses from the evil rioters, and had reality crash down on him.To resist despair

right wing fantasy of being fed up with BLM and evil rioters in general. We need more of him. We’d have a lot fewer issues.
What we saw in Virginia is a wake up call to liberals that people are over your overall agenda. You had a fun 8 months however your big party is over.If you don't get what you want you didn't want it bad enough

It’s not my agenda. You really like to frame anyone who has a different opinion than you as a liberal. While I certainly have liberal views on certain things, in 31 years of voting I have never voted for a Democrat in a national election and only once in a statewide election. Politics aren’t binary.

I'm from Kenosha and also know Antioch well as it's a literal stones throw from the state line.
He didn't bring any weapons with him from his home.
He was attacked 1st for putting out the fire
.
There are reports that Rosenboom or whatever his name was threatening to kill him.
Police reports indicate that someone who was behind Rosenboom shot 1st towards Rittenhouse and it's quite possible this person is the one who actually shot the guy in the back as the ballistic reports have never been released.
The police were actually thanking Rittenhouse and his friend for their help as Governor Evers had done basically the same thing as Madisons Mayor and ordered a stand down and allow the rioters to do as they wished, so in essence it was up to private citizens to protect property because the cops sure as hell weren't doing it.
The 2 guys who ended up dead both attacked Rittenhouse, one tried to beat him with a skateboard and take his rifle. The 3rd guy who attacked and ended up getting his bicep shot off is on film holding a handgun.
Personally I think he walks unless the jury is tainted which is quite possible given the coverage this case has gotten, at most he gets slapped with a misdemeanor of being underage and carrying the rifle. I also think he deserves a goddamn medal as the people he shot were no angels especially that Rosenboom guy.....****phile who raped a 2 year old amongst his other dirty deeds."You know that little thing in your head that keeps you from saying things you shouldn't? Yeah, well, I don't have one of those."
