Your arguments are getting weaker by the post. I don't know if it's frustration or your own lack of real life experience, but you've resorted to pandering to a juvenile mindset which tells me it's time to call it a night lest ad hominem attacks and off topic buzz words become the norm.
I know you're an intelligent guy Dan but you lack a real world perspective. You make some valid points but then you spew the same hyperbole as so many sheltered spoon fed people spread across the internet do, thinking they're wise and/or knowledgeable because they read a website or two that says something they agree with.
I know you're going to wax eloquent in response to this post as you have so often in the past but your posts are becoming repetitive and your arguments lack substance. I respect that you're passionate in your beliefs but you've brought nothing substantive to the table and I feel as though you're just trying to garner attention to yet another bid to demonize guns.★cVc★

Not really frustrated as I'm more disheartened by the lack of substantative dialog about what really is a big problem.
Cars kill tens if not hundreds of thousands each year, but instead of swinging wildly between eliminating all cars or saying that accidents are caused only by bad drivers and you can't avoid highway deaths both private industry and lawmakers have taken some reasonable steps to make automobile travel safer. Increased research into supplemental restraints like airbags, enforcement of seat belt and texting laws and stiffer penalties for those who drive under the influence.
Point being that you can make an activity safer while still providing reasonable liberties to the good people. A combination of measures can each have a cumulative positive impact.
That was the kind of dialog I was hoping to have where intelligent people from all camps could come together for a common goal - less dead innocents. It appears I overestimated the ability of gun owners to see the world through any other perspective than down the sight. It's a shame. That's all.

Really?
'Down the sight' that's a clever bit of flame bait. While I wouldn't quite label you a wordsmith, you are clever with dramatic phrasing.
I've encountered your ilk before... 'you don't agree with me so your opinion lacks intellectual insight.' You'd fit in well with the R&P crew.

Love fighting on Xmas eve with the bish hah. We had to drive to Park City (50 mins) for her fams party which of course we didn't get back until past 9 (because the dicks plan the party in the middle of the day) so we couldnt see my fam. We fight because I am being a dick and NOTHING was her fault (of course). She slams the door and now is sulking in the bedroom. Fuk it playing D3

I never said your opinion lacked intellectual insight. I just observed how gun fans tend to have difficulty talking about any solution that involves guns or changes to accessibility of guns. You are plenty smart. No doubts there. Please don't make this personal though. My goal is and always has been to try and find a common ground, but that involves all parties taking a small step away from their tightly held beliefs first. Without that, there is no compromise, no intelligent discussion and no change. The only thing it leaves is personal attacks and villain-izing of the person with a different perspective.
Like I said - we can learn from the highway laws, enforcement, technology advancements and other safeguards utilized to reduce deaths and improve safety while still protecting individual rights. We didn't need to "take away cars" - just make some slight adjustments to various contributing factors. That's my same vision for firearm violence - at least do some small things to cut it down a little. That's all. Not take anyone's guns away.
And yes, I know Obama doesn't personally pay for the secret service. My point was that the cost of having that level of armed protection is not something the average person can even think about affording. It's hard to win an argument with a smart person. I don't see where I'm making it personal, that is not my intent. I do tend to state my viewpoint without excuse but I've not made any personal attacks that I'm aware of.
Reference the bolded portion ....
If this is indeed true then perhaps you want to refrain from the snide commentary that frequents your posts.

I think he has just *slightly* more people worldwide that would want him or his family dead than you.
Or do you also find it necessary to have a bulletproof motorcade when you travel or a custom private jumbo jet to take you cross country?
It's not that him or his family are better than yours, just that as a major world leader he has amplified risks and threats as well as expanded means to protect the safety of him and his family. I don't see how comparing yourself to a standing president in terms of secret service protection is even a rational comparison.
