    Box squat depth??

Kinda a noob to power lifting here.
Anyways, what should the depth on my box squat be??
    Parallel? A little below parallel?
Should I switch up the box height every couple of workouts?

Any good articles I can read on box squating??

what are your goals for using this exercise. If just general strength building I'd say a bit below parallel.

I would agree that slightly below parallel is fine.

I use 3 different heights. Below parallel, parallel, and above parallel. They all work things differently.

For a beginner, if you can do it, you should start about 2" below parallel. Don't ask me what height that is based on your height. Get on a box and find out EVERYONE is different regardless of height and stance.

If you squat too deep in competition, you should be on a parallel box. (squatting deeper than you have to will take pounds off your total.)

If you have no problem hitting depth and are strong out of the hole, working off a higher box will help you hammer the lockout of the squat with heavier weights. I don't like to use a high box unless my hips are hurting and I need a break. I know where I need to be to hit depth, so this doesn't screw me up too much. Also, you can use a higher box if you're an absolute beginner and just can't get to below parallel. If this is the case, you should work down until you can get below parallel.

Classic box squatting is done with a very wide stance and a box that is below parallel. It should not look the same as a full squat (you'll sit back more) and you should never hit the box hard, bounce off the box, or rock on the box.

Low box= power and speed out of the hole
Parallel box= getting a feel for depth and building strength
High box- overloading and working the finish of the lift.
