sleep feature is a great tool. first few days, when i eventually got a good 5-8 hours sleep, i would right down the time i got up, and the time i layed back down, and it was incredivle accurate. the sleep effeciency is also awesome. you can track ur actual sleep opposed to laying there not knowing ur awake but not fully asleep at the same time. hence why people say i had 9 hours sleep but i feel like crap, well this way will tell you why

He also provides valid reasoning as well... It just all depends on how you use the data to determine if the feature truly is necessary to you. And also, ALL BMF's come with a free 3 month subscription. When you activate your device on their website, just click "I got my device somewhere else" and then the next page will say congratulations, your first 3 months are free.

I actually really like this feature. On the days I've been dragging ass, I can usually go back to the BMF data and see that my sleep us low. I find my appetite is outta control too when I dont sleep enough.

Quick question, are you starting to get deeper cuts in your abs or is it the angle?

    As far as HIIT goes...

I didn't do "traditional" HIIT, but I didn't feel like doing a whole cardio session so I interspersed some between sets on Monday when I was doing my "push" lifting day.

I did treadmill sprints of 9.5-11.0 mph for about 3/4 of a mile each time (so 4-5 mins), three separate times during the workout. For my total session from about 7:40-9:00 pm it showed a burn of 450 calories, whereas my normal burn for a lifting-only session is about 250 for the same duration. It showed on my graph that after sprints I continued to burn at an elevated rate for about 5-10 minutes.

So the breakdown was that sprinting was like 10-11 cal/min, immediately after the sprints was 5-7 cal/min, then lifting was about 4-5 cal/min and my normal "sedentary" burn rate is about 1.2 cal/min. Obviously this would be different for someone bigger and I'm jealous of all you boys who sit around and burn 2.0 cal/min doing nothing.

Maybe that is helpful to those who were wondering.

Deeper cut but it depends on the day, really (and the lighting). Some days my abs look really flat, especially when I'm glycogen depleted. I think they'll look better after my next bulk/cut.

For those that were interested, I've done HIIT vs a regular cardio comparison. It turned out with a regular cardio session (45 mins) I would burn around 3200 calories at the end of the say. After a 20 min HIIT session, at the end I would burn around 3400 calories. This has been consistant everytime Ive tried it. Very cool!

I have a feeling I'll be part of the "underestimated my TEE" crew. Sat on ass all morning, rode bike to gym, did routine, rode home, now 3PM my time and I'm only a few hundred kcal from my previously estimated TEE (incl cardio) and I haven't even gone for my evening walk yet. Crazy.

So honestly, it probably isn't that accurate. I think it's cool that it can track REM while you are asleep (dips in cals/min burn), but other than that, like you said, it is probably an unnecessary extra.

Also, you can get the BMF for about 153 on Amazon with 1 day shipping, just FYI if you do decide to cancel your BB
REM is the only part of the sleep cycle that I would care to even see data on (#/night), so that's just some food for thought. Other than that it sys that I wake up 20+ times per night for 3-30min at a time randomly, which I don't think is the case. So for the most part I'd also so it's purely an extra, not one of the main reasons I bought it personally.

    Talking

Has anyone gotten questioned about the thing on their arm all day?

Surprisingly, no one has mentioned anything to me yet LOL

I have the Bodymedia Fit and I actually really like the sleep efficiency feature.

On nights where my efficiency is lower, I definitely feel more tired during the day.

The same is true in reverse as well. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Had trouble when I first bought it also

Ik, ik.. It's water weight and excess food in the GI tract, but what's the point of even having the device if you can successfully lose BF at a certain intake and gain at another, even if it doesn't match up with the device. Obviously because of the amount of calorie burns everyone is reporting, the thyroid output does not match up with the adrenal output.. Thoughts?
I bought the bodyMedia monitor last year. Wore if for about six months, and it didn't seem to match my calorie burn; so I stopped wearing it.

In January I was diagnosed hypothyroid. Once I got my medication setup I tried wearing it again about six weeks ago. Seems to be accurate now, and I've been cutting since then.

But I did notice starting last week I would suddenly start burning a lot less calories even though my workout was about the same.

I upped my calories each time to go slightly over maintenance, and the next day I was burning calories at the normal level.

I wonder if people who buy the monitor have already slowed down there metabolism from cutting for a long period to begin with.

Perhaps a few week clean bulk to start with is the way to go when you first buy a bodybugg.
