Does anyone know how well an Arm blaster works?

I've been reading the Arnold bodybuilding book and in it he recommends to use the Arm blaster and that its not being used in gyms anymore when it should be. I was just wondering if anyone has tried it and how well it works as well as if its worth the buy?

It enforces a strict curl. Discipline can do the same thing. So can a preacher bench if used properly, or even an incline bench.

I bought one, and does it help? Yeah. But, I can't say It's a must-have. Besides preacher curl, you can also stand with back against the wall. But, the arm blaster does work.

So, when comparing it to just leaning up against the wall would you say works better then leaning up against the wall or is it pretty much the same? Just wondering if theirs a significant difference between the two.

That is a worry I had as well lol (using it in the gym)... Might make a scene in the gym with that thing.

Well, you can only extend so far when standing against the wall before the plates or dumbbells touch the wall. So I suppose the range of motion is a tad greater with the arm blaster.

Anyway, I like the arm blaster. It's by no means a necessary piece of equipment, but I definitely like to throw it in my routine at least once a month. I typically use it in place of preacher curls during a biceps workout, either with dumbbells or with an EZ bar. I also use it on pushdowns for triceps from time to time.

Keep in mind Arnold recommended using it since he was sponsored by Weider who manufactured and sold the Arm Blaster. I've used them, they're OK. You can still cheat the weight up with a little dip and leg drive but they help you stay keep your form strict.

^^^As he said, I think I've seen more people cheating using one , than not. I didn't like it in the 70's, and still don't, because it isn't comfortable to me.

Srs? ur kidding, right? Lulz. u will be shredded, but it doesn't add as much mass as a Shake Weight!

I used to see them all the time in gyms in the 80's. They probably will work if you don't cheat, but if you don't cheat do you need them?
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

    Yes.

Not one bit better than simply using good form when doing Curls. If you feel like you need some gizmo to perform the most basic of exercises correctly, go ahead and buy one.

I just bought one and find it a little uncomfortable. To use it properly, should you rest your elbows on it or move it a little higher up so it touches the lower tris?

I tried the Arm Blaster back in the early 1980's, personally it did nothing for me and I've only come across it a couple of times since, it might aid arm isolation and it may help with your arm development, but I bet there's thousands of Arm Blasters out there and the only thing they're developing is an ever increasing layer of dust.

The Arm Blaster should be much lower than whats seen in the second picture. You probably will want to put some extra padding to cushion your elbows too.

It's most proper use would be to take up space in a yard sale.

Lmao. I didn't realize people still bought these things. I see them all the time on CL, but have never seen, or heard of, anyone actually using them.

If you have excessive elbow movement while doing curls, decrease the weight and focus on form or simply stand with your back against a wall...which will make you decrease your weight.
