I don't know about that, but the ZO6 C8 might give it a run.
There is a good video in this article:
https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...y-the-numbers/
Aided by its quick-shifting eight-speed dual-clutch automatic—the only transmission available—and a well-calibrated launch-control system, the C8 rips off zero-to-60-mph runs in 2.8 seconds. That's 1.1 seconds quicker than the last C7 Z51 we tested with a manual transmission. The C8 even betters the zero-to-60-mph runs of the quickest 650-hp C7 Z06 and 755-hp C7 ZR1 that we've strapped our test gear to, both of which lose the struggle with grip in low gears. Yes, they are traveling faster than the new Vette by the end of the quarter-mile, which the C8 does in 11.2 seconds at 122 mph, but the point is made: The mid-engine configuration pays off from a standing start.

Motortrend Test:

They seem to love it and praise the fact that they no longer have to make excuses for the Corvette's lack of quality feel/fit and finish that was made up for in its performance. Now it has the performance and quality of its rivals, starting at $60k.

The C8Z will destroy almost everything in it's path. And that's not even talking about the ZR1 and the 1000hp hybrid. The C8Z WILL BE the least expensive super car you can buy. And will outperform super cars twice it's price. Assuming it'll start at 90-95k.
Corvettes have been no joke for decades now performance wise. Now they have the engineering, the proper platform and still has the performance. All while keeping the price realistic so anyone can get one so to speak.
Lots of other car makers are going to lose customers once the C8 lineup unfolds lol

From this performance, I believe it. It is interesting that three or four online car magazines tested the new C8 base 0-60 times and all came up with 2.8 or under 3.0 seconds. Of course, the C7 ZO6 beats the C8 through the 1/4, but the C8 beats it and the ZR1 0-60. The only reason the C8 by comparison falls behind in the 1/4 is horsepower and torque. So, yes, the new C8 ZO6 will be crazy fast with 650hp - 150hp more than the base.
I'm think a loaded C8 ZO6 with all the good options will be around $105K and $110K.Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

I don't really care about 0-60 times personally, because who ever does that? lol I think car makers use that as a selling point because under 3 seconds is impressive lol. Regardless if it's relevant or not in the real world, depending on who cares. I know i don't. But honestly it's to be expected when the engine is now behind the driver instead of in front.
C7Z 3LZ Z07's brand new can fetch for 110-115K. So i would imagine a full loaded C8Z will be about 125k. Maybe even 130k with every single option checked off.
To me, i don't care for the luxuries. I didn't need them in my C7Z. Although i wish i had the front facing camera. Everything else i don't need. Don't need heat/cool seats in my race car lol. Don't need nav, don't need comp seats.
Maybe a stage 2 aero, better wheels, with CF bits and i'm good. So i'm guessing my optioned C8Z will cost me 100k even.
I'm ready.

The difference was the mid engine configuration. It's essentially the same engine lol. Comparing the C8 stingray to the C7 stingray etc.
That's why it's very impressive now given the low hp figures. Because the engine is in the back now.
That's why i'm starting to believe the C8Z will be getting the NA DOHC engine, and the twin turbo will be reserved for the ZR1. Because of how impressive the stingray is, with only 495hp, a 600hp NA DOHC flat plane for the z06 is good enough. It's not supposed to be an insane straight line performer anyway. It's essentially a track car for the street.
Either or, i can't wait. Although with the delay in the C8 production, might push the arrival of the z06 another year or 2? As much as i love my C7Z now, i'm starting to think maybe i should hop in a new toy for now, then go back to team corvette when the C8Z arrives. Maybe AMG??

They may have underrated the power a bit..

I got into it on the corvette forums about some "unofficial leaked dyno #'s" That came out and said the same thing as Motortrend and Jalopnik. A bunch of the old farts thought that because of the mid engine that the car was capable of 2.9 0-60 with just 500 hp. The math just didn't work out with the official numbers even with the best possible conditions. The leaked numbers had to be correct to achieve the performance figures GM was claiming. This seems to be a trend with a lot of automakers right now. BMW, Toyota, GM etc. all under rating their official numbers.
Regardless, once these start getting forced induction they are going to be 800HP+ cars no problem. I want one bad!*Updated* If you can't hit a 320 yard drive, are you even a man?

0-60 times don't make sense unless its around 600 crank horsepower.
Based on the design changes GM made I can make some assumptions on why the engine outputs so much more power.
1st: Intake design, its shorter and smoother (less turns) and is better at getting cold air into the engine. (20+ HP)
2nd: Exhaust starting with the manifold. Tubular headers, with much more efficient routing than the c7. Couple that with a shorter exhaust and it can add a significant amount of power (think 50+ on a small block). This isn't taking a regular exhaust and opening it up to try and coax more power out of it. This completely changing the routing of the exhaust.
3rd: Better valves. The valves have been reworked so they have less friction than the LT1 (10+HP)
4th: Dry sump oil system. Proven hp savings switching to dry sump. In the old LS1 you could see savings of over 30 HP on a 5.7L. (40+ HP on LT2)
With those changes I can easily see over 100HP increase over the LT1.*Updated* If you can't hit a 320 yard drive, are you even a man?

There is literally a 0% chance the LT2 makes anywhere near the power MT says it does. The SAE J1349 ensures that each engine is within something like 1.5-2% of the engine rating. Not +30% over the factory rating.
Output ranged from 478 HP and 536 lb-ft at the wheels tested in sixth gear to 561 horsepower, 515 lb-ft of torque tested in fifth.Last edited by mingrey02stg2; 10-21-2019 at 01:47 PM.
