To keep your muscles grow every time you need to give them bigger stress right, that is increase weight on excersizes or increase reps, sets etc.
So serge what you suggest to change/increase every workout or week to give muscles bigger stress?

Trust me I have a goal and I will fufill it. When I first started training Serge, I was so dedicated and my workouts were so intense I would have blood coming out of my nose and mouth. Which is not a good thing and doesn't happen to me anymore but it just reminds me of nothing will stop me.

Accidently maybe? Because I see no reason why the best thread ever would be deleted. They should have a backup file of all old threads right? In that case they can bring the old thread back.

I was reading it for 3d time :/

So many ways. You canincrease the weight, repetitions, less resting time, or a combination of all that. It's why I always said let your body direction of course if your MIND and your LOVE for this sport are in perfect harmony.

Serge, I'm just curious, but when you were competing did you believe in the idea of bulking up and cutting down?

I also always have wondered if you always stayed at the same weight.

    Thanks a lot, Serge.

    Serge,

I have a couple of questions for you. I read literally hundreds of pages on your old thread and a few on this one, so if these have been asked before, just tell me and I'll try to dig them up.

When you were competing, did you keep track of the amount of carbs, fats, and proteins you took in? I know today, more emphasis is placed on protein and carbs, while many previous bodybuilders placed more focus on fats and proteins, restricting carbs. If you don't know the amount of carbs you ate, could you tell us about how many carb rich foods you ate and in what amount?

This next question may not have an answer, but looking back, what are a couple of the worst training/diet mistakes you've made but didn't realize at the time?

Maybe, but I'd like to know what his body told him. It may have been 400g carbs/day... 600g, or down to 100g. That's why I'd like to see what his nutrition was like, on average.

Serge, look what i found. Do you agree with this? :

"Slow Gainers (usually predominantly red muscle fiber):
Slow gainers often benefit most from 10 or more sets of 15-20 reps

Average Gainers (usually a mix of red and white muscle fiber):
Average gainers often benefit most from 5-8 sets of 10-12 reps

Fast Gainers (usually predominantly white muscle fiber):
Fast gainers often benefit most from 3-5 sets of 4-8 reps done explosively

Others like Sergio Oliva, Serge Nubret grow on high reps with moderat weight and more sets. Because they are Slow Gainers (usually predominantly red muscle fiber)"

    What do you think?

what is a slow, medium, and fast gainer? people who need to eat more or less or strictly muscle-gaining?

Nearly at the same weight, only 4kg to lose. I was a bodybuilder for 365 days a year, not only the day of the contest.

This next question may not have an answer, but looking back, what are a couple of the worst training/diet mistakes you've made but didn't realize at the time?
I never diet in my life, I was just listening my boy, it was telling me what to eat, when etc...
If I'm listening my body, no mistake can be done, that is instinct.

I totally agree with that. Like Bruce Lee said absorb what is essential hack away what is useless. But somethings are science based like most people on here have to have protein in their diet. It is necessary to build quality muscle. Right?
Distraction is an obstruction for the construction.

That's right and Serge's body told him to eat proteins when it needed them. As he said, today his body does not ask for so many proteins because he already has the muscle built.

Do you mean people with predominantly fast vs slow twitch muscle. I have never heard of red and white muscle fibers, but I know that sprinters have higher proportions of fast twitch muscles, while long distance runners have primarily slow twitch muscle, and that one is activated with explosive reps, the other with high reps.
When all that says 'it is good' has been debunked, what says 'I want' remains.

    You're mixing different concepts.

Yes, protein is needed to build quality muscle. But if you're in tune with your body and understand its intangible signals, then you will be eating protein anyway because your body will be telling you too. If you're working out really hard and need more protein for muscle repair, your body will tell you to eat more. That's the idea.

Serge is saying you don't have to wait around twiddling your thumbs waiting for some lab coats to publish a magazine article before you can know whether or not you need to eat protein or know how many reps and sets you might try.

I don't follow whatever is out there I use my judgement, my subconscience and my prior knowlegdge. I believe it a synergistic relationship depending on the subject/matter. Nothing more to really say about it. I understand why Serge chooses, because his body leads the way with the 3 powers. So I'm good.

Serge have you ever had times when your workouts haven't gone that great, like if you were lacking energy or just couldn't get a good pump for some reason? or have your workouts always felt perfect?
It is with people like you that this sport will never grow. "When you say, everything and anything to be pro, do you mean even to turn HOMO?...
