Nobody is fuking saying that. What people are saying is that this can blow up and fuk our health services and cause a hell of a lot of premature death. If this isn't concerning to you then I don't know what to say.

In the meanwhile heroic medical professionals are fighting a war with this thing in China, Italy, Korea, Iran, EU, US and many other countries. Try telling them it's no big deal lmao you'd look like such a neckbeard freak lmao.

The worst thing is that if this thing does get under control, from a massive global effort, these same people will still be sitting there scratching their arses saying "hurrrr told you it wasn't that bad"

The reason people are freaking out is because it's so new. And it 'could potentially be a threat'. People's bodies recover on their own (and have with this coronavirus - hospitals have no cure so they're just giving people support obviously), and a hospital trip should be the absolute last resort for anything. In fact, you have more of a chance dying at a hospital through iatrogenic causes, than the virus itself.

From what we do know about this virus, it's like a flu.

Russia shut the borders with China fairly early, and has been one of the most active countries with testing. Russia is also a way less populated country than most EU countries. There are major cities, but also major distances between everything.

Meanwhile most EU countries and the US were late with banning traffic, and testing people coming in, and are now behind. For most EU countries testing is too late now, and they're just trying to smear out to outbreak to not overburden their healthcare systems instead of managing a containment.


Strongest boys are Nigeria. 2 cases so far, both in quarantaine for a while. Then again, Ebola was much worse than this so they're prepared.

Nothing that has been done recently is going to actually show up in death stats for a bit. You don't die instantly so those that are already infect will die at the same rate they were then once the rates of infection die down from shutting down everything and closing schools you'll see the death toll slow dramatically.

The 65+ million number came from the cdc running a simulation that was similar to corona not corona itself. I’m fortunate enough to get to communicate with the White House as part of my job so I ask about this stuff all the time. The 65+ mil is worst case scenario where no precautions are taken and the disease just runs rampant and unchecked. I don’t think we are there since the disease doesn’t appear to be all that deadly to most folks.

Yeah ok, jeff. The problem is that the choices aren't "blow it off" vs "panic" The choices are "protect your olds and sick and wash your hands frequently" vs "shut down the entire gdamn economy and screw everyone out of their livelyhood and savings"

Things are being shut down to avoid a massive spike in new infections that will overwhelm the health care system and result in far more people dying as doctors / nurses etc make difficult choices in patient prioritization. That would be the absolute worst case scenario

No doubt younger and healthier people are being asked to make a sacrifice
