Ill have to throw in the Aus 2017 in there as well. both players had their ups and downs but the 5th set was incredible. also from a historical perspective it seems to have been very important, rafa was at 14 at the time i believe and roger at 17. if rafa wins that its 15 to 17. rest of the year finishes the same and its 17 to 18 and its too tight to call. instead fed wins and its off to the races.
hopefully rafa can catch him still.

iabs = Uncle Toni
Nadal racks up so many points on clay every year he can effectively take 6 months off and remain Top 3.
Indian Wells, Miami, and now the US Open are all slow as chit and perfect hunting grounds for a clay specialist. That's 4000 points. Paris Indoor is slow. Add another 1000 points.
They slowed down Wimbledon in 2002 the year Lleyton Hewitt won and it's been a dustbowl in the second week ever since. If he can survive the likes of Dustin Brown and Gilles Muller he's a lock for the final on green clay. 2000 points.
Australian Open was a grinders paradise for years until organizers got tired of seeing players with Lance Armstrong fitness scrambling side to side for 5+ hours unable to hit a clean winner. They upped the pace and the biggest cashcow in the sport goes back to back.
What more do you want?

to be fair Fedal has been more interesting than most other players.
Just look at fukking Dimitrov playing like he pooped his pants on court in a final.

I like Dimitrov man but FUK what a weak competitor.
Just pack your bags and go home man.

Wow.
To think I was actually slightly worried about this match.......
I figured Rog wouldn’t be very motivated after doing what he came there for.
Completely dismantled baby fed.

I’m giving Grigor the benefit of the doubt here in that I believe he had to have picked up an injury. Can’t believe he played that poorly. Credit to Fed though.... once he smelled blood it was over. Much like Rafa, once he gets that break it’s pretty much set over.
Will be an amazing accomplishment if he can catch and pass Connors’ 109 wins. At this rate it looks like (no jinx) Fed has a real chance of playing in Tokyo in 2020. I hope his body can hold up. It would be an epic end to his career if he could finally win that elusive singles gold medal.

lol @ you cucks being worried about that match. dmitrov was 0-6 vs federer and took just 2 sets off him in those meetings.
he's basically a worse version of federer himself. why on earth would federer ever lose to him

so upsetting that a player like dmitrov has a YE title and Nadal doesn't

he's been injured for a few of them and everytime he gets to a semi or finals he is facing djokovic or federer. if he had dmitrovs draw he would have won. it's no secret that indoor hardcourt is nadals worst surface.
just like federer's worst surface is clay and he needed someone to beat nadal to win the french.

And yet he’s still been to the finals of the French what.... 5 times? ONLY losing to Nadal? Not to mention the 11 clay titles that he’s won (26 Finals appearances) over the years. Pretty good for his worst surface lol.
Yeah Tuga... you’re right.... no trolling going on here at all. Poor Nadal fans always “being picked on” by those nasty Fed fans.

Let's keep it civil gentlemen.
Crunching the numbers, Federer now has a 345 point lead so even if Federer defends his IW title Nadal can get back to #1 if he reaches the final.
With a stacked field it's unlikely Nadal makes any ground in Acapulco.
So with the mighty Bautista-Agut top seed in ***** Federer should head to the Gulf and vulture it for another 500. A win there would give him an 845 point lead and he could either skip Miami or play with zero pressure.

Honestly, playing ***** and skipping Miami assuming he wins, seems like a pretty good idea. I don’t expect him to repeat the sunshine double. Then again, skipping ***** would let him show up to Indian Wells with more rest than he had last year. That plus the days off in between matches at Indian Wells and Miami would obviously benefit him. I fully expect Fed and Nadal to trade the #1 ranking back and forth multiple times this year.

Plus Nadal's defending around 5000 points on clay.
Without Novak and to a lesser extent a fit Murray and Stan it looks like Rafa's only competition with be Thiem so you'd expect him to defend most of those points assuming he's not injured (and 2016's RG withdrawal aside he never is on clay). He'll still feel some pressure.
I don't expect him to do it but with a 3 month clay season and sweet FA competition there's no reason Federer can't continue trolling Nadal and staying in shape by entering a couple of clay Masters for some cheap points especially since they'll be on opposite sides of the draw and Federer can always check out in the QF/semis or if there is a rare Nadal upset like in Rome aim for the final or W. He would have won Rome in 2015 without Peakovic. Came close to winning MC in 2014 before the Stanimal showed up in those last two sets.

Keyboard warrioring? Wtf are you even talking about? The last time you pathetically tried quoting me from the other forum, it was about rackets. Fed getting all these records is really fuking with you. If you found my posts on another tennis forum, you obviously use it too.

When you see it like that it's ridiculous. Many tennis careers don't even last 14 years.
