Its the prevention of totalitarianism in areas where gun rights exist.
Thats a weird line of thinking, why would gun owners be magically transported to an oppressive state?
The Hong Kong protestors would not be in the state that they're in if they had per-existing rights.

Why do people believe that our own military would enforce these things? We swore an Oath to the people. Some dirtbags might defer, but our military, as a majority, is no threat to us. It would have to be an outside force.
Of course not. Because they're unarmed in an established communist society. Not even a comparison in the slightest.

Guns level the field, yes but you have to remember...In order to use a gun, you have to deploy it meaning if you are getting the crap beaten out of you and a person doesn't have any unarmed fighting skills the chances of getting the firearm out dwindle and even worse the person beating you could potentially use your own gun against you.

I'll just say this much; you have a liberal narrative painting gun owners as a potential threat and advocating draconian anti-gun legislation and at the same time, you have a gigantic media machine that churns out movies, tv shows, games, literature, entertainment etc that shows a good guy blasting away bad guys with all kinds of weapons. I find that rather ironic.

You are ready to provide a list of examples where this happened, yes? Millions of people carry every day in the US, and there are tens to hundreds of thousands of defensive gun uses in the US every year.
So there are, what, tens to hundreds of thousands of examples of armed defenders havnig their own gun used against them annually, yes?
How about an example? Shouldn't be hard to come up with a few thousand as its own stat, yearly...so how about you just come up with a few (like, as in three) from IDK let's be generous and say the past five years in the US.
I'll wait.

And your car's airbag killing you is a potential risk, would you please remove all of yours and provide some evidence of having done so? That's the smart play, right...to avoid that risk?
No but really thank you for admitting that you pulled that out of your ass and it has no basis in reality as being armed clearly, demonstrably, objectively puts a victim of violent crime in a better position and reduces the odds of serious injury or death, with the armed defenders gun virtually never being used against them

Edit: I believe we have escaped tyranny, for the most part with notable exceptions, because of the enlightened thinkers who put great work into our Constitution. Which is the best piece of ethics and philosophy ever put down...inspired by God. True religion.
And it does include arms.
But for the right of a well regulated militia, whi can correctly function.
That doesn't currently exist, imo.
And frankly, states with good gun laws are indeed better at gun violence.
It shouldn't be that easy to kill.
Over the years, I became pacifist...because dead people can't be fixed. You can fix a lot of problems, but if they are dead you failed. It's definitive and it didn't work.
Getting to world peace will take more guts than bullets, and I think so fervently I have no fear of death. It's coming.
Make your effort for life. Not death.
We've come to far to resort to war any longer. We're better than this.
Fight with culture...intelligence, kindness, abundance, success, understanding, food for the hungry, medicine for the children and mothers. And win.
The writing is all the way on the wall...and we have two choices which is dark and light.
I choose light with my final efforts.
Somebody needs their eyes on the prize...heaven as life. Don't have a gun, because you don't want to kill.
That's one of God's eyes you just put out. And he needs and wants all of them. Even the rotten, mean, horrible.
He's the winner. Undefeated and undefeatable.
But you need faith to carry on when it's dark.Last edited by GreatOldOne; 11-17-2019 at 10:30 AM.
