Hi everyone, I'm boxer who is pretty useless when it comes to setting and achieving goals with my body, that's why I'm in a little bit of a predicament right now. After a grueling season, which ended for me after a competition mid-June, I decided to kick back and enjoy my summer before I move away to University in September. I've pretty much ate whatever I've wanted to, no limitations, and now I'm depressed at the fact my body has not been in worse shape since before I started boxing.
Usually I weight 62-63kg (137-139lbs), with a skinny but defined body which maximized my speed when competing, I have become chunkier overall and weigh 64.5-65kg, my torso just looks more built and obviously slightly fatter, and because I was skinny and ripped I now just look average/out of shape to the naked eye. I'm about three weeks away from completely losing my abs I think, its strange because right now at night I still looked pretty ripped, I took my profile picture at this time 5 days ago, but in the day I hate to take my shirt off, I assume my daytime physique is the truthful one.
The issue now is the season is over so training has been reduced, come September I will be moving away and of course I want to be looking in peak condition when I go to University! Seeing as I'm not looking to actually build muscle, is the simple solution to go out and run? Being a boxer I'm not foreign to it, a three mile jog at a fast pace is easy work, I was told by a professional boxer/friend of mine that a 10 mile plod of a run will shake it all off but I'm not so confident I will see a dramatic change in a single day despite an intense sweating session. I've told my mum I'm going back to fish and rice, chicken and rice or pasta dinners and no fatty snacks because that's how I ate when I was ripped. Overall my body seems naturally chunkier, as well as a little more fat covering my abs, is the solution to just start limiting my diet again and burning the fat off with cardio? (running)

If you gained 2kg of fat, your going to need to burn roughly 14000 calories. Either do it through cardio or diet, up to you,
May 3 - 183 ; May 10 - 181; May 17 - 181; May 24 - 181; May 30 - 178.5 ; Jun 7 - 176.5; Jun 14 - 174.5; Jun 20 - 173;
Jun 28 - 172.5; July 5th - 171; July 12th - 171; July 19 - 170;

You see when you put it like that, it doesn't seem like much at all. But when I look at the drastic difference in my bodies proportions in the past month (top of arms are thicker, torso is thicker as my back looks more built, belly pops out slightly as opposed to being completely flat) it seems like much more needs to be done. But I dont know much, I trust others expertise rather than my own limited knowledge. I'm going for a minimum 3 mile run first thing at 5am, good idea?

As is the case with most athletes, they think training is the answer. And while yes, training is important 80-90% of cutting is diet.
Read the stickies. Calculate your TDEE and start weighing and tracking your food. Eating "clean" helps with satiety but is not required. Tracking accurately and consistantly is the key to success.Started 2013: 450 lbs
Success 2014: 270 lbs

Your blowing it a bit out of proportion, you have an easy 2-4 week cut to get back to skinny ripped. To be frank, you would find a muscular look easier to maintain if you had another 15 lbs of muscle on your frame. (May not help your boxing)
