ive been bbing like a year and a half but lifting weights for 3 years everyone talks about overtraining and i always wondered how any gains could be made with doing such minimal workouts like 2 sets 6-8 reps with five lifts a workout but it hit me today and i dont know how i havent thought of it but ive come to the conclusion is that you are only trying to spark yours muscles into growing automatically by breaking them down a little bit and rather than breaking them down alot just for them to repair themeselves over again and also gain a little bit... if that made sense and didnt sound like the same thing.
spark to keep burning not break and repair in simpler terms
correct me if im wrong

How many sets is over training?
Yesterday for example was my designated 'full body' day in which I did:
3x5 deadlifts
2x5 sumo deadlifts
5 sets of squats (1 warmup then 4 full weight) 10, 8, 8, 6, 6
3x5 power cleans
4x8 calf raises
2x8 weighted lunges
3x10 weighted crunches
2x8 weighted russian twists
Today my traps, hams, quads all sore and my glutes feel like I've been butt****ed by my cell mate Bubba all night.
Did I do too much? I gave myself enough rest between sets.

I beat the **** out of my body, I can hardly walk back to my dorm after leg day.
It's a different story though if you mean all the time. You have to know when to de-load or cruise, take time off. Can't go all out 100% of the time, and expect your body to continuously grow.Ripping through my logbook to 250+lbs lean.

i dont think you know what im saying. i know what overtraining is, breaking down your muscles faster than they can repair themselves im just thinking that some people take the wrong approach and train to failure or break down their muscles alot and althouhg they get sufficient nutritionand rest and repair it they make small gains while the key is to only give your muscles an anabolic response and let them grow on their own. but then im not sure doesnt it make sense though
