Indian desserts, like much of the vast South Asian country’s cuisine, vary from region to region, with coconut proving especially popular throughout the tropical south. Take, for example, Goa’s rosewater-scented, coconut-and-semolina cake, called baath. In the eastern region of West Bengal (as well as in Bangladesh, just across the border), palm jaggery is incorporated into dense, fudgy sandesh, made from cardamom-scented paneer. And in the central-northern regions—heavily influenced by the Persian techniques and ingredients introduced during the Mughal Empire—elegant court treats like vibrant saffron toast are frequently blinged out with silver leaf.

Though not considered dessert in India, the banana fritters and rice porridges traditionally offered up to the Hindu goddess Attukal Amal during Kerala’s Attukal Pongala festival are certainly sugary enough for you to serve after dinner—they make a good breakfast, too.

So whether you’re looking for a sweet way to start your day or end a meal, our best Indian dessert recipes make it easy to incorporate the flavors of this complex nation.


Fried Banana and Rice Flour Balls (Unniyappam)


These sweet, fried rice flour balls are a typical prasadam, or “offering,” sold at Hindu temples in Kerala or at local sweet shops. The runny batter, which includes banana purée, grated coconut, and jaggery syrup, is spooned into a ghee-coated appachatti pan (a specialty pan with divots), which is then heated over an open flame, cooking the batter into crispy cakes. (If you have an aebleskiver or takoyaki pan, those work too.) Fried unniyappam can be stored for up to a week and reheated in a moderate oven before serving.

Yield: makes 36
Time: 4 hours, 25 minutes
Ingredients

1 1⁄2 cups jaggery
2 ripe bananas, peeled
2 cups rice flour
1⁄2 cup freshly grated coconut
2 tsp. freshly ground cardamom
1 tsp. ground ginger
1⁄2 tsp. baking soda
3⁄4 cup melted ghee or coconut oil

Instructions

In a small pot over medium heat, add the jaggery and 1½ cups water. Cook, stirring, until the jaggery dissolves.
Strain the mixture through a fine sieve, then set aside to cool slightly.
In a food processor, process the bananas until very smooth.
In a large bowl, add the rice flour, coconut, cardamom, ginger, and baking soda; stir to combine. Add the banana purée and the jaggery syrup and stir until a loose, wet batter forms. Cover and let rest for 3–4 hours.
Set a paper towel–lined plate next to the stove. In an appachatti pan over high heat, distribute ½ cup melted ghee evenly among the divots. When the ghee is nearly smoking (about 2 minutes), lower the heat to medium and carefully but quickly drop 1 tablespoon batter into each divot. Cook until browned and crispy on one side, about 2 minutes, then flip and cook 2–3 minutes more.
Transfer to the prepared plate and continue cooking the batter in batches, refilling the divots with the remaining ¼ cup ghee as needed. Serve the unniyappam warm.

Ingredients

1⁄2 cup ghee
4 medium carrots, coarsely grated
3 cups whole milk
1 cup sugar
1⁄4 cup heavy cream
1 1⁄2 tsp. ground green cardamom

2 tbsp. roughly chopped cashews
1 tbsp. roughly chopped almonds
1 tsp. minced pistachios

Instructions

Melt 1⁄3 cup ghee in a 12" nonstick skillet over medium-high heat; stir in carrots. Add milk; boil. Reduce heat to medium; cook, stirring occasionally, until carrots are very tender and sauce is thickened, 30–35 minutes. Stir in sugar, cream, cardamom, and rose water; cook until sugar is dissolved and halwa is thick, about 25 minutes.
Melt remaining ghee in an 8" skillet over medium-high heat; cook raisins, cashews, and almonds until raisins are plump and nuts are lightly toasted, 3–4 minutes. Stir mixture into halwa and garnish with pistachios; serve at room temperature.

No i think it was because it's really hard to take out a girl and treat her respect when her instagram is full of pictures in her g string, she tells you about all the sexual things she has done and moreover her tinder profil was herslf in her bra and panties and she dresses lke a hoe.
