    Thanks, Guys.

ID, you're right, getting abs back isn't too terribly difficult. I'll be back to where I want to be in a matter of weeks.

Did a big chest/shoulders workout with my daughter's boyfriend's Dad yesterday. Dude is a big guy (6-4 250) and very serious lifter. He took me to his old school irons gym that he lifts at. Really cool place and had a great workout.

    Good work LWW!

Was out sick for a couple days, tested negative , back on the horse yesterday.
Was a solo because my workout buddy was also getting tested.
    Some good bench stuff etc.
If it worked (I have basically no editing skills) - here's some slow tempo bench and some weighted pullups.

Why do you do curls, its not a compound movement and doesn't assist in any of the big lifts. I know you train for strength and don't care about build so I am just curious why you would do a curl?

I guess you could say that you are just trying to address any imbalances that could lead to injury... but I do curls too and I must admit I do have SOME ego. :P

    A. I like to do heavy curls.

    B. Since doing curls (I never did them years ago) my biceps are getting harder, I didn't like having soft arms.

My triceps got work from overhead pressing and floor pressing, my biceps were left behind.

I learned my lesson about my body regarding overloading accessory work. I had this brilliant idea that I would do HEAVY curls and pushdowns 5 days per week for a month to see if I could grow my biceps and triceps. Ended up straining my tendons and was sidelined for a bit from doing curls or tricep work. I've just learned to accept that my arm size is what it is. I always wanted 18" arms, but it seems like it's not in the cards for me.

True, but the bicep is targeted during any back movements such as deadlifts, BOR, pullups etc so wondering/curious why the curls.

I've been doing curls about 1-2 times a week and obviously it's not building my big lifts. I also do calves about once a week and they're not really doing much for the big lifts either.
Pertaining to Sinclair's response - I'm not doing them heavy, so hopefully no overwork or injuries!

Been a little over a month since I have been able to bring back squatting. I am staying at 225 because I tried 315 and had a 'twinge' in back. Just going to stay here for a while. Also brought back deads and only doing 315.

This might sound stupid, but I felt like I was wasting away my lower body. It had been 3 years since I could really train my lower body. I still had muscle, but I felt like I was starting to look skinny. I carry most of my leg mass up high and it is hard to see in shorts, but I snapped a pic tonight and feel like I did not look too bad. I can see the profile or outline has not atrophied too much. Overall, I look like I train. Unfortunately, in normal clothes today, my legs dont really show.

Nice to finally be surprised and look at a pic and not feel frustrated.

Still chipping away...day by day... Bench pic was Monday...

Have no idea what I weigh. I have not stepped on a scale in a few months. Still doing IF daily and also on non-workout days doing 'hard fasts' where I only eat one meal and generally try to push it out to about 20hour fast.

I don’t do any BOR or pull-ups. When I do those heavy curls there is no pump involved, it just breaks all the fibers. I can only do these once every 1-2weeks. It may take a couple days for the biceps to repair and get the hardness back after doing them, but they get harder after fully repaired.

I do heavy cheat curls as well, definitely no pump whatsoever. I typically do them once a month.

Try fasting. I am getting back to almost my leanest point and eating fried chicken, icecream 2-3 times a week, pizza...etc. NOTHING off limits. I am a believer.

The rougue bumpers and good bar were a gift for my daughter. She has been putting them to good use! As much as I want not willing to pay the COVID premium during lockdowns, when my daughter told me she wanted to start training, I immediately started scouring to pick up a set with a bella bar. Found it and no regrets! Stuff we do for our kids

ID, I've been trying to do some fasting, but I have issues with light headedness and almost unbearable hunger pangs. Yeah, I know it sounds like an excuse, but those two things are why I have abandoned IF in the past, despite giving it two weeks or more to subside.

Do you have those issues? And when you only eat one meal, how many grams of protein do you get in? I can't imagine more than 75-100g.

Yah, we all know you look great! The last one to admit it is often ourselves...
How do you get all the protein in with IF? I've also read a bunch of literature that suggests you can only absorb so much protein in a given time window..

True indeed... I don't find myself wrestling often, but as I mentioned (to no response lol) I broke up a fight a couple weeks ago and biceps do help in the double underhook grips

I agree, with IF it's so much easier to have foods you enjoy without going over calorie targets - as I just commented my problem is getting my macros and the protein absorption issue.

yesterday was my last volume day of the cycle and man it sucked! 50 Deadlifts with slow eccentric.... oof.

When I was a young pup finding my way in the gym. A wise old lifter, a giant of a man told me that in order to get a good back workout in, you need to pull from overhead, a front row and something from the floor at every session, he said doing this will not only maximize your back training, but you will never need to do curls.

So fuking sore today from Dead Lifts, managed to squat 315 x 7 which ties my PR. Horrible day. I did a bottoms up at parallel with 335, then walked out 425 with no problem, set it on the safety straps and couldn't budge it, stripped it to 365 and still couldn't move it, got really pissed and finally lifted 365.

That is what I call my 'hard fast' days. I started out with one and have been doing one meal a day after a 20-22 hour fast 3 days per week on non-workout days.

I am using that to control my deficit. There is no way I could ever eat enough in one sitting to hit my TDEE so anytime I do it, it will be at a deficit state. Which is OK if fat loss is the goal. When I get to where I want to be, I will rotate one meal/day in an out as many days as I need to in order to maintain where I want to be.

I am all about rolling with it and playing by ear. I like the flexibility in my life now. I am no longer a slave to food. And I have my cake and eat it too!

WONDERFUL! I wish everyone could say the same!
I'm getting there for the first time in my life and really happy about it.

I love federal holidays: I don't have to go to work and I can work out whenever I want.
Yesterday started my meet prep cycle and am really happy about it.
Did my first set of heavy singles in a while and was nice to feel some weight on the shoulders again.
First video is my 'heavy' 4x1 @ 425 (should go up each week); second is the backdown set of 12(13) @ 235. Feels good!

    It's never too late!

I don’t miss those backyard squats lol.

ID just curious, does low bar squats affect your back issues? I notice you use a high bar position.

Dr. pepper, the 425 looked like a white light on depth to me.
