    Any insight?

OK, gents, I tweeked my left knee about 3 weeks ago. Been icing and trying to be careful, but now its effecting my squats. I put 135 on the bar and could squat, but I get a sharp pain on the upper outside of my left knee. (think 1 o'clock to 3 o'clock). It's a sharp pain when my thighs get around 45* - prior to thighs parallel to the floor. I also can't do a step up on a bench with my left leg, too painful. Doing a little research leads me to 'runners knee', pain going up and down steps. Squats just started progressing and now it looks like a layoff, along with deadlifts for the same reason. There's no swelling or discoloration. Just looking for some insight before I have my annual with my doc next month. Thanks!

Don't wait any longer, go and see doctor ASAP. Not your annual or next month, right now. You might need surgery.

Yeah I think at 3 weeks you're probably past the rub some dirt on it stage.

A really good way to piss off your doc is to "save" an injury for an annual physical. Knees are important enough to warrant a seperate visit IMO.
Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

A torn ligament or damaged meniscus won't necessarily cause bruising or swelling. Your GP can only guess as to what might be wrong; you need a referral to an Orthopedist. Putting off a proper diagnosis could leave you open to significant further damage from nothing more than a 'wrong' step as you walk.

Thanks for the push! Had my appointment last week, xrays today. Doc didn't seem to think there was damage, but prescribed some anti-inflammatories, an xray and then sports ortho if it doesn't go away. The meds seem to be helping, but still got the (less than before) sharp pain during a few light sets of squats last nite.

I guess it's wait and see what the xrays show.
