Im repeating myself here but if you dont have a newer galaxy phone available (it has a built in oximeter), get you an oximeter so at least you know you're alright. You can order it on amazon and they probably sell it at walmarts/pharmacies too for cheap

Yeah, especially in NY, if I were you, I'd call a doctor and tell them what's going on and only actually go to the hospital if they tell you to.

hate to say it OP but this virus remains in the body indefinitely and can attack the lung anytime in the future (as does shingles attacks your nervous system when your older)

If you're not gonna go to the doc, if you have a samsung phone try the S health stress measurement, I heard the oxygen saturation measurement is pretty accurate

Put your index finger flat on the red light on the back so it covers the light, dont push too hard just lightly press on it and make sure you move as little as possible

Below 90-92 is when you should strongly consider going to the ER

Spoke to a trusted family doctor over the phone who did a rudimentary breathing test. A test anyone can do themselves:

Take a deep breath in, hold it for a sec, fully exhale, then count to 30 quickly out loud. I was able to count uninterrupted without gasping so apparently I’m below the threshold for needing oxygen.

Gonna check in with this doc every day from now on just to make sure I’m okay and don’t need more immediate medical attention.

That seems like a good strategy. But I think you should go to the hospital if it doesn´t get better in the next few days.

Thats not a fuking diagnostic test. Get a pulse ox and check your O2 sat. Note heart rate and temp too.

If I can find one on amazon I will but the delivery is probably really backed up. I can’t imagine I’ll find one anywhere in NYC if I sent someone to go look for me. Without a doubt I agree with you that I could really use one right now.

Thanks man. Unfortunately today was a bit of a step backwards. A lot more respiratory symptoms, my lungs have been burning for the last few hours. Breathing is okay for now but I keep getting spells of lightheadedness so something is going on.

I know you spoke with a doctor you know. Still highly suggest you attempt to contact a local ER to consult with someone actively treating this. Tell them on the phone that you are COVID positive, 2 weeks in, and you are experiencing burning in your lungs and are lightheaded.

Maybe it is okay (hope so), but if you are accumulating fluid in your lungs you do not want to wait and see on this. EMS is slammed AFAIK and I doubt your GF could carry you down to a cab.

I’m going to see if I can get a chest X-ray done tomorrow. On a good day ER’s in the city are horrendous, I cannot imagine how they are now. I’d really like to avoid that unless it becomes clear I need supplemental oxygen.

Props for clear headed handling of it- sought medical advice, followed it without causing more stress on the system. Sounds like you're willing to seek help if & when you need it too, if it comes to that, that's why we have hospitals. Europe has had plenty of healthy young people end up in ICU.
