Goin on a trip with my girl soon. Her sister is leaving the same week and got salty that she asked for her "Tumi" luggage back. I guess she wanted to peacock in the airport with it.
Looked up their stuff and it's not even that impressive. Literally the same quality as Travelpro if not less because their wheels don't have the glidelock schit. I'm an extensive traveler and the only luggage that stands out as high-end is Louis Vuitton (obviously) and those cast-aluminum Rimowa cases.
Just thought it was funny she was pouting about not being able to bring the Tumi luggage and it's not even recognizable as a status symbol.

The glide-lock on the wheels is a game changer particularly if you're having to roll more than one bag. There have been numerous times i've been power walking through an airport and let go of it to send off a quick text, and the bag just keeps rolling right along side me instead of just spinning off to somewhere random and hitting schit. The highend travelpro gear is GOAT. I just picked up a trunk from their Travel+Leisure line and it's pretty hnnng.
Dug through the rest of their line. The only ones that look anything of significance is the "19 Degree Aluminum" line with the leather handle. Those DO look like money but all the other ones are definitely on dat der travelpro time. Worst part is, even with the $1500 luggage it STILL doesn't have glide lock wheels, but they do provide you with this little bit of potatoism "As with all metals, wear and tear, including nicks, dings and slight denting, is to be anticipated and carried with pride for a journey well-traveled."

I feel attacked by this comment lol. Before I got married the only luggage I had was a camo duffle bag that when I needed I dumped all but one of my pistols and ammo out of and threw clothes in it. When I would move I used black garbage bags ded srs. She was mortified when we moved into our house and all my clothes were in garbage bags. Before our honeymoon she made me buy real luggage so I got some Nautica chit that was on sale
2k for a canvas bag? You gotta be fukn chittin me.
No gotdamn bag is worth 2k unless it's inlayed with gold leaf or some chit6'2"

More or less agree. I mean i love my higher travelpro stuff for a blend of cool practical features while also looking acceptable. I did a Sicily/Malta trip with an old college buddy last year and he brought some luggage he bought from Target and it looked positively plebian.
Like I said, unless you're rocking the aluminum rimowa with the wave pattern (i'll admit, it looks pretty sick) there is no reason attempting to flex with some tumi.
I'm 100% going to sound like a hater, but whatever. I DID think the Black Damier LV line was cool when I first learned about it in college. The black on grey pattern replacing the Brown monogram was cool to me. Then I lived abroad for 4 years and developed taste. Flex with your shoes or your watch, a big giant LV bag is just poor taste despite being impressive.DCA'ing FXS since Sept2022

I showed up to a wedding in Cabo with a J Crew duffel bag and all the other groomsmen had Tumi so I caved to the peer pressure. It's fine, definitely not worth the money but it's held up through a few years of frequent business travel so I don't regret it too much. I actually bought a big checkable piece of luggage from Away for a trip to Europe and it is awesome. 200 bucks.

If this thread was about Rimowa, you'd be spot on. But since i'm a centurion lounge member, and flying first class on this trip i'm taking. I'm going to assume you're a basement dweller who lives vicariously through people that actually have their schit together. Thanks for playing though.
That holds up to the other guy's statement saying it's the "Trek Bike" of luggage. And yeah, I heard good things about AWAY but i'm a homer for travelpro.DCA'ing FXS since Sept2022
