Bodybuilding 101 Redefined

had quite the year

gym i work for kinda sucks but my people are great (and as a trainer, thats my priority)

so heres my 2016 goals in a nutshell

- new job
- feb vacay
- finally qualify for a house (stupid 700k median)
- drop bodyfat (its healthy food but i still eat too much)

- revisit 3 plates all around
im close on bench and squats but I havent rowed for a year
although im probably closer to 3p on weighted pullups

Great goals for 2016 Ryou ... I know you'd said at least two years ago that the gym owner had been a douche and you've done well to stick it out, but as a good trainer you'll get and keep good clients so you'll always have options
3 plates all round will be pretty say for you if that's your focus. The leaning up bit is always the hardest

Chest Day:
Incline DB 100 x 12
Flat Bench 135 x 20 x 5


Shoulders Day:
Side Lateral Machine 30 reps ss w Standing Side Laterals 10 x 30 for 4 sets (240 reps)
Modified Shoulder Press on squat machine: 2pps x 20 x 2
FAT Grip Barbell Curl: 45 x 20 x 5

Strong incline benching! I'd love to get just one rep at 100lbs on the incline DBs just once in my life

I JUST got the sonicare for myself! I love it. I got it for a great deal at costco, actually, two for only 80 and it's a good model!

i want to raise my profile a bit but im really trying hard not to glorify my process while demonizing others

im pretty happy about the 100x12. (my best was somewhere around 15-16)

i want to raise my profile a bit but im really trying hard not to glorify my process while demonizing others

Always better to maintain the high ground ... I'm sure you'll do well and clients will follow if you get the opportunity to branch out more on your own
Even flat pressing the hundos for a single rep is alpha in my book

parted ways with gym. after they got a new manager and docked everyones pay they finally said my quota was too low and had to go. (despite being in the top 50% of trainers).


but just as that happened I got offered a job as manager of an electrical service company. So full time with phone/office/car works for me.


gonna be heading to Canada in a few days so better believe ill have pics


and when i return i plan to revamp my training since i finally have a fixed schedule!

It sounds like your time at that gym was heading for a crash anyway .... great news about the new job and having some regular hours, even if they are long, will give you a chance to really tackle a plan. Looking forward to what you come up with and see how you target your goals now. Enjoy Vancouver .... love that town!

most definitely need to revist snow again

i royally suck at skiing lol, but i wouldnt mind trying to snowboard

the weather was perfect for a bit, then rained for the rest
(which was fine but not optimum for a few things we had planned)

qualified for that house, so a lot of time/money/effort has been put towards that

(sorry for the absence but I did miss you all)



job is still a work on progress but im always optimistic

have a Seattle trip in January so that should be something new

and training wise, my muscle and strength is decent but Im going to have to start jogging/running more



I hope everyone has been well and are spending the holidays with family and loved ones
