What exercise do you find awesome?

I've just been introduced to Russian push ups .. enjoyed learning how to do them and felt great after third set

And in the dim and distant future I'm gonna do muscle ups (just found out they were a thing)

Which has made me realise that there's a whole raft of exercise goals to add to my "one day" list that I don't even know exist

    So what would you add?

Conventional deadlift. I reckon if I was only allowed to do 1 exercise for the rest of my lifting life then I'd choose this. I'm not strong and have no big numbers but I just love the "full on" feeling from DLs. :-)
Anybody can workout for an hour but controlling what you eat the next 23 hours is the real task.

Front squats are for the brave

Edit I can't add them as I always do them

I have just added Upright rows to my program purely because I love doing them
They are also my mirror exercise (I don't do curls)

I pretty much do the basic boring compounds over and over and over gradually increasing the load (barring any injuries from mule wrestling of course)

I tend to like anything big and/or compound. I'm a believer in hitting the whole body from as many angles as possible, yet using as few tiny isolation moves as I can. I try to steal the best stuff from bodybuilding, powerlifting, strongman, olympic lifting, gymnastics and any other source that has something good. A few things off the top of my head:

    Sled Dragging
    Barbell Pullovers
    Hang Power Cleans

Yes Ripped can happen but that's usually from Donkey shows instead of mule wrestling (different thing altogether, google that one up ). You could start off with a small doge, but I don't know what a doge is, gerbils to hamsters to bunnies is the normal wrestling progression until you work your way up to miniature ponies and finally mules. That's when you know you made it....

    Looked up Doge BTW

Aside from Squat, Bench and Deadlifts, I find BB Clean and Press pretty awesome, if a tad exhausting when doing them for reps...

I guess I am influenced from Crossfit and Olympic lifting. All of These are awesome in any program, in order of awesomeness (for me).

Snatch, if I could do a 70kg snatch...two reds, that would be awesome. (Got up to 45kg or so last summer, long way to go).

Double Unders...I cant do one, I can do singles all day, very close to getting these. Ive tried 3 different ropes and 5 lengths.

Weighted Pull ups....when I see someone hanging a 45lb plate and cranking those out...I salute you, I can only do 3-4 sets of BW singles.

Farmers Carrys...just started doing these a month or so, biggest bang for the buck. No Gym or special equipment needed for this.

I suggest the snatch grip high pull instead of upright rows. You'll love doing them. I don't do curls, either, but snatch grip high pulls and inverted rows and chin ups take care of my biceps, big time.

I do it with dumbbells held far out, so there's no chance of garrotting. It is a truly awesome exercise.

I've never understood why overhead squats aren't more popular than they are.

srs? Hate Bulgarian split squat, but I've only done them with dumb bells.

Rather do slide board reverse lunges if it comes to it.

I like sled work...push/pull/whatever. Maybe because it is full body and you don't have to worry about form or balance much. Also can't drop anything on your head/foot/etc.

I've pretty much weeded out the exercises I don't like, or find unproductive (for the effort) over the years. Now I mostly refine things I do like, find productive, and already think are awesome. Here is a list or recent (sort of odd) refinements/changes that I think are awesome:

"T"-Bar rows (with the close grip parallel handles)
Never did these before a month ago because I thought Bent Rows and Seated rows were more practical. Now that I'm doing them I can't believe I haven't been doing these forever. Very "easy" to do heavy weight with good form and REALLY feel the back bursting at the seams. Make seated rows totally worthless in comparison.

    Safety Bar Squats
Where have you been all my life SSB? Absolutely love these. I didn't realize how awkward it was for my particular body to keep good form while doing squats. With this bar the exercise is twice as hard on the quads and hams (the muscles I want to hit), but my foot and knee stance is much more comfortable and my back and glutes never get sore.

    Safety Bar Squat Calf Raises
I've always used a machine for standing calf raises, but since switching to the SSB calf raises I can actually SEE a difference in my calves. I don't know if it's the fact that I'm balancing the weight, or that the weight is directly above the calves now, or what...but definitely more effective.

Military Presses (Using the Back Widow Multi-grip press bar)
Not a commercial, but what a great piece of equipment! Puts my hands (wrists/shoulders) in the ideal position to press the bar, and the "gap" in the middle allows for a clean pressing movement. Allows me to feel the movement through the entire shoulder instead of just the front head.

I think cross fit and the (ninja warrior) obstacle course gym craze has inspired people to do all kinds of insane things. A woman on my mail route was all aloof with me one day saying, "weightlifting only teaches your body to get good at lifting weights, cross fit teaches my body to be good at everything". Of course, every other sentence (hands on hips) ended or started with "my coach says..."

The injury rate with crossfit is unprecedented. Take sedentary, middle aged people and make them do dynamic movements to failure on their third week. Yeah, that won't end badly........
