I love Kai, but his waist is far too big to be crowned Mr. Olympia.

Many different opinions on this topic.
Way back Robbie Robinson,Shawn Ray,Rory Liedlemyer, and many others.
It's so subjective and every judge has an idea of what the perfect body should be even with judging criteria that is suppose to be followed.
Also politics like with Weider, who will help sell the most magazines and who the public likes.
    Many deserving individuals.

There is no way Kai is Olympia material.

If it weren't for Yates back in the 90s Ray, Levrone, Wheeler&Co. could probably have won an Olympia each.

Yep, and we'll never know how many Olympias Yates would have won if his career hadn't been cut short by his injuries.
Imagine a healthy Yates crossing paths with an up and coming Coleman....

Some uncrowned Mr Olympias never even make it to the pro ranks. Matt Mendenhall had bad luck, losing to the likes of Haney, Strydom, Mike Christian and others as an amatuer and suffering a car crash and health problems.

Dorian would have beaten Ronnie in 1998, even Levrone said it a month or so ago on RX.

Levrone, Nasser, all could have won the Olympias.

Flex Wheeler on the other hand was an amazing bb and my most fav physique but I can't think of any time where he deserved it more than the 1st place winner. 1999 flex who threw away his silver medal on stage didn't deserve it over Coleman, Coleman was just too big, in front relaxed pose his chest is like 2 times the size of Flexs!! Glutes and hams twice as shredded!!

Lee, Shawn Ray, Kai yeah no. They were good but no. Lee dan Shawn are too small. Kai is freaky but nowhere as complete as phil, no traps and forearms plus he also has a gut which you could use to argue against phil only if he didnt have one.

Victor 2007 is arguable, yes he could have won.

As much as I like Levrone I cant think of a single year the had a legitimate claim. In 92 he was supremely aesthetic but as even Shawn Ray said he was a touch off and idnt even push Yates. In 95 that was the best ever Dorian so no chance either.Kevin himself always mentions 2000 but he couldnt topple Coleman, despite the latter being noticeably smooth .2002 he had a real shot as Ronnie was very small and flat but he had lost his legs completely by then.
Nasser in 97 was crazy close, but pose by pose Yates still edges him out imo.
Flex Wheeler, many peoples choice as the best to never win the Olympia, but if you really look at it he never even deserved 2nd place. In 93 he was slightly off and Ray actually edged him out in the mandatories if you check the scorecard. In 98 he was off and small, Nasser really should have been 2nd but the hype train for Flex .....And in 99 Cormier looked better than him in almost all poses, not to mention he didnt have any site enhancement.
Agree on Kai, he never really ko Phil, 2012 was very close. If he had had the fullness from the 09 AC he probably would have beaten Phil, but he was flat as a pancake.

I'd say Haney was closer to unbeatable than Yates or Ronnie. He was just bigger than all of the runner ups; Makkawy, Beckles, Gaspari, Labrada. Only Yates was comparable in '91.

Agree Haney was overall more dominant and never was on the ropes( apart from 1990 when they were drug tested) like Yates and Ronnie were. But one has to factor in he was dominant vs much weaker competition.None of those guys would place top 6 in the 90's with Flex, Levrone, Nasser, Ray and Cormier around. Hell even Mike Francois of 95-97 beats all of them.
Also Haney at his absolute best in 1991 still lost the muscularity round to a not prime Yates despite being 10 lb heavier, so we have to question his greatness, sorta.
Damn Haney's torso was the best ever, especially if we consider the midsection.

I agree with RB13's overall assesement. Any of the top 6 in the 90's would beat almost everyone in the lineup after Coleman's retirement; to still be as dominant as Yates was is incredible. On the other hand, one could argue that the 80's lineup wasn't weak per se, but rather that Haney was just so ahead of everyone else.

About Francois: with those dense muscles he genuinely looked as strong as he was big, he looked like a power lifter turned BB - one of my favorites back then!

What made Yates so hard to beat was his unusual ability to get very conditioned, especially for a big guy.Even in his supposed off years, 94 and 97 , he was probably still the most conditioned man on stage which is not normal. In the 1996 Olympia which was tested for diuretics Yates was arguably at his driest ever, which almost doesn't make sense.
Agree on the 1980's line-ups, full of big names, maybe more so than the 90's, but no one that could really stand toe to toe with Haney .
Francois, one of the many darn good bodybuilders that got lost in the shuffle that decade, together with Clairmonte, Baker, Vince Taylor, JP Fux, Matarazzo.

Mr O is a competition for midgets that battle each other in a beauty contest that is purely subjective.
Who can tolerate the most Peds. Who has the most oil in their arms.

    I once saw Kai Greene.
I almost laughed out loud. This guy is like 165cm lol

Fux was a real mass monster, but never seemed to come in really ripped.

In all fairness that pic is from a guest posing, but it is true he only was great in 96 and 97.
Fux really had an exceptional back though, in terms of sheer size and completeness one of 5 best backs ever, if his good friend Nasser El Sonbaty would have had his back the history of the Mr Olympia would have been very different..

Dennis Wolf was always my dark horse but he never pulled the "full package", always missed some small detail

Sorry but I never understood the hype about Wolf.He has a great frame and size but too many gaps in his phisique. He did get shafted several times in the placings I will admit, but being non-American that is expected.

I happened to watch his Olympia routine and he was so diced and hard. I believe he's one of the most shredded Mr O this sport has been seen.

Yeah I think Haney said in his opinion Mendenhall had the best genetics he'd ever seen (at that point).
