This. Thanks for being unbias. A lot of Pats fans want to give credit for the turnovers to the rain, but make no mention of luck being on their side when they intercepted the ball in the endzone or got a turnover fumble from Walker, or that no-call on Aldon Smith causing Brady to fumble that got called a incomplete pass whenn Brady's arms was no where near to going forward. Like you said, the score could have been a lot worse for the Pats had the 49ers capitalized on all their opportunities. If people are gonna say luck played a factor in that game, both teams benefited. If not, then its fair to say that a lot of good football was just played that night.

But a 62-yard kickoff return by LaMichael James -- apparently the only Niner who doesn't promote agita in the return game -- and Kaepernick's biggest throw of the night saved the day for San Francisco midway through the fourth quarter. The Patriots had just tied it at 31, and in the huddle, before first down at the Patriots 38, Kaepernick said: "We have to score. We gotta put up seven right here.''
As in, right now. This play.
"I expected Cover Zero,'' Kaepernick told me. "And it's what we got.''
In Cover Zero, safety help vanishes, and defensive backs are in man coverage. They're the last line of defense. And or the quarterback, he just has to find a receiver fast, and make a decision fast.

How does an interception in the end zone have anything to do with luck? McCourty baited Kaepernick over the middle and snared it. He did the exact same thing against the Jets less than a month ago.
Don't talk to me about refs in that game. Welker got mugged on multiple third downs, got held in the endzone on the Patriot's 1st half scoring drive, and got held on Brady's first half int. 49ers defense is phenomenal but they got away with a hell of a lot. You could sit there and dissect every tuck rule call in the NFL this year, but an educated fan would know that the reffs always err on the side of incomplete.
The Pats were effected much more by the rain that's for sure, but I'm not saying the weather is an excuse for losing. Both teams were playing in the same conditions, and in those same conditions the 49ers came out on top. What I will say is that in a rematch where weather isn't a factor (and with the Patriots' 2nd best offensive player back) I would absolutely pick the Pats to come out on top. Will you still rep me when I'm no longer age:20 and aesthetic?

I respect the Patriots, but they don't really scare me if the 49ers had to play them again. Brady is the best quarterback in football but that defense has swiss-cheese like holes, and if the 49ers attack in their normal man to man defense, the pass rush keeps Brady uneasy. Patriots didn't start racking up points until Fangio went into that retarded zone defense and start giving prevent looks.
Patriots have a hell of an offense and especially with Gronkowski are a handful for anyone to deal with but they don't frighten me more than some other potential playoff opponents.Russell Wilson, the first QB in NFL history to throw a game-winning interception.

Pats fans are spoiled with all the calls they get. Guess cuz Welker was hit early and the timing was off he was "mugged". Anytime there is any contact on the Patriots they start looking for flags instead of playing the game. They got plenty of gifts. Funny you mention how the refs "always err on the side of incomplete" cuz that's usually what they do on those plays where Walker "fumbled" that's called an incomplete pass 9 times out of 10. 49ers missed a ton of big plays. They had 4 bad snaps screwing up drives.
The game shouldn't have been close. 49ers screwed themselves out of a bunch of points early and then as they always do play soft on defense after dominating the game doing what they do best.
I'm shocked that people are still trying to make excuses for this game.

What teams scare you more than the Patriots? Honestly, watching both teams every single week, I can honestly say I'm surprised by that statement.
The 49er's definitely ****ed up by changing up their converge, but at the same time, that's the exact same thing the Patriots did when the 49er's were scoring. Both teams were much better off playing man to man that game.
The one thing I hate to see people using as an excuse this game is the weather. The weather is usually a major plus for the Patriots, so weather should not be used as an excuse at all. Both teams played like **** at times, and both teams played well at times. That kick return by LMJ is what turned the entire game around. I think if he didn't get that return, the Patriots would have won. However, he stepped up and made an absolutely huge play.
This could very well be a Super Bowl preview. However, the Patriots will probably have a much tougher road if they have to go through Denver. That is the one place I think no team would want to play in the playoffs. The 49er's could really use that #2 seed, and if they get it, they are looking mighty fine.

I don't know if there are any teams that are "scarier", I just think that the 49ers matchup fairly well with New England. Brady isn't a very mobile quarterback and that plays right into the 49ers hands. The defense isn't as quick as some others, especially compared to the Rams and Seahawks and the secondary has a tendency to end up with broken coverage.
The X factor of course is Brady, and anytime you play the best quarterback in football you should be prepared for a dog-fight but as long as the 49ers consistently rush and stay out of the BS "prevent" defense looks, they can keep him in check. Brady is like any other quarterback in regards to if you keep hitting him, he's going to struggle to be effective.

I agree, Denver is a tough place to play and the 49ers would be better off keeping the first divisional game at San Francisco than have to travel to somewhere like Green Bay or Atlanta.Russell Wilson, the first QB in NFL history to throw a game-winning interception.

both teams earned respect last nite. it was definitely a tale of two halves. 49ers did enough in the 2nd half to hold out the win.
The ToP ended up almost even at the end of the game. The same way the 49ers dominated the first half with 17+ mins ToP, the Pat dominated the 2nd half.
And yes i agree that LMJ return was huge as was that Kaep to Crabs TD. They answered that 21 point run by Brady. Its a testament to both teams being great teams that never give up. And i think i said it in the 49ers thread, most teams would have folded after allowing Brady and the Pats to comeback. And many teams would have also mailed it in down 31-3 at half. That was a spectacular game. Big ups to both squads, this is what December/January football is all about. Its why the NFL is the best sport in the world.Misc Crypto Chat - https://discord.gg/NTbdBMu come chat with us!

Brady is obviously one of the GOAT's, but any other player throws this kind of hissy fit and he gets a flag. No phucking doubt.
