I doubt that in this market right now up here. Supposedly, it should go to multiple offers given basically no inventory and location. I checked zillow, and the lack of inventory checks out hard. There basically no "average" houses like mine in the entire area (low 200s), let alone one as close as i am to downtown.

The pay where I live sucks but the cost of living is laughably low. I live fairly close to a reservoir that tons of people ski, boat and fish on. For a 1500 sq ft waterfront house that has either been built or remodeled in the last 10 years you are looking at around $200k. Basements are a no no in the deep south. The water table is too high and everyone I know that has one absolutely hates it and is constantly throwing money at it to no avail. I'm sure you've heard this before but its not the heat that's bad its the humidity. I lived in Colorado for a spell and 100 degree days there were actually kinda pleasant. Around July when the humidity rolls in here it feels like someone dunked a towel in boiling pot of water and then wrapped your head in it and it stays like that through September. On the bright side winter time is very pleasant except for the end of Jan and all the way through Feb which is freezing by my standards but you'd probably been fine walking around in shorts lol

Don't you get hosed with property tax?
But, almost think that there's no safe haven unless you have a specialized field and maybe pick and choose where you can go. Here we get property tax, sales tax (on non-food/clothing items) and state/local income tax. Feel like it's more or less the same total out of pocket anywhere you go.#sunyourballs

We live in a frost zone so you need foundations to bee 8-10 feet deep, if you didnt have a basement you would spend just as much on piling or grade beams so may as well.
I feel like the weather would be reverse of here, I would have to spend 3-4 months a year hiding in the AC instead of by the fireplace. I think what I would miss the most is the long days though, depending how far north you are summertime its daylight here from 430am to 11pm so we can make the most of summer.
You need to keep those avocado munchers on the coast, keep them from fuking things up for everyone.------♥♥-----

Bugs are another thing to consider. I've been to Alaska in the summer and I know about the mosquitoes. Imagine it's the same for you. But I'm in the NE US and was outside last night and bitten up by some pinhead sized bugs, never happened before this early in the year. Vex, TBO, and Retoaded probably have some nightmare stories about dinner plate sized bugs that'll give you shivers, I'd bet.

They switched us from our company phones to paying the bill on personal devices, so I upgraded to the 11 max pro extreme or whatever the flagship one is.
Surprisingly good camera but no home button is going to take getting used to.
Mosquitoes here can be brutal during parts of the season. General rule of thumb is the further north you go the bigger everything gets, goes for moose, elk, and bugs.------♥♥-----

This. I tried everything (cheaply) possible to get my grass grow the first three years we lived at my place. Eventually just gave up. Yesterday I went out and weed-whacked the dandelions that shot up a foot overnight and left the grass/moss alone. I have noticed that all the variety of seed I threw down years ago is finally taking root and get odd patches across the back yard. Als0 recently discovered that the pine needles really choke things out, if I get bored enough I might try and get as much out as possible but feel like that'll be a war that I cannot win, either.

i basically live on a rock, so much of it here. The dirt I do have is dry and packed, I’ve got to add some soil for it to take
I’ve tried certain areas already and the only spots that took were the areas I broke up the dirt , and that was a bitch to do(manually)
When we had bushes put in, the yard guy brought out a small jackhammer to help bust the rock, to dig the holes. You get a few inches of dirt, then a big ass rockDallas Cowboys

We've got a dozen oak trees that drizzle sap, leave a ton of pollen, then release these really abrasive chunks that fall down in clumps this time of year. If you're outside for any amount of time and accidentally breathe that in, well I'd almost rather have covid.
