Yup, that was my only complaint, and sadly, it's a pretty big deal.

Wasn't a big deal when I lost my mind to them playing Colony and Only For The Weak back in July of 2011 when they toured with Trivium. But yeah.

First single before their new album out in Sept.

Well, they've finally let me down. Stuck with them through the last 2 records but...

Yuck.

I haven't listened to In Flames in a while. I know they were sounding kinda metalcore for a while. This sounds more alternative. Not really what I expected from one of the pioneers of melodic death metal.

Anyway this band has really got me hooked. Don't know if they've been posted yet but it features Jeff Loomis, Keith Merrow, and Alex Webster.

Getting the vocals wrong on tour completely sucks the fun out of seeing a band for me. Like Trivium, as the first "death metal" band I got into, they hold a special place in my heart and I love seeing them live. I get that they're trying more clean singing on their records now, but I expect 100% screaming live with songs that require them. 60% of the time Corey is screaming for a majority of the songs, and now Matt is hardly screaming at all. You're not THAT good at cleans, Matt. I'd really rather them just not tour, Matt's scream is one of the best in metal and it blows to not hear it.

They pretty much turned Volbeat's Evelyn into a completely differnet song.

It is very likely that Deathspell will never release more material. They put out their trilogy, the EP links, and that will probably be it for them.

But that's what is so contradictory about it. We bitch when a great band doesn't release any new material, but when they continue to release material, we eventually get to the point where we say that it sucks and that they sold out.

I would prefer that they never release anything again. Why would they want to tarnish such an incredible series of releases? I can see them releasing something like a split in the future, but a full album? I don't think it will ever happen, unless they have the inspiration or motivation to release something like the trilogy. Anything else is just a waste of time. I have never understood how some of these bands have the capacity to release this wishy washy garbage every 1 to 2 years.

But anyways, yeah Matt has always been scared/worried about his voice holding up live.

I saw them in November and he was belting out the lyrics for Gunshot, Shogun and Pull Harder really awesome it was pretty sick.

Come Clarity was the last decent IF album. A lot of forgettable filler tracks but still heavy, melodic and interesting.


After that it fell apart.

I went with a friend to see them when they were promoting their last album... das not it mane. Was outside getting drunk most of the night.

Pretty much only dig the stuff up until Clayman. Not a big melo death fan anymore though, I prefer black/thrash/brutal death over anything these days.

Modern metal is the worst to have happened to death metal, you mean. There are heaps of amazing death metal bands, it's just that they all happen to be decades+ old.

I will retract my last statement. Most are decades+ old, but a lot of great death metal emerged in the 90's. But damn it's already 2013, what I said isn't too far off.
