Mario Lemieux was probably the GOAT hockey player. Gretzky played on stacked teams and was protected to the point of being pretty much untouchable. Even a clean/legal check would mean you'd probably be getting your face bashed in by Dave Sermenko or Marty McSorley.
Lemieux would probably own most of the records if his career hadn't been cut short because of his back and later cancer.

Almost impossible to argue against Jordan, Brady (six rings with different teams automatically makes him GOAT even though I hate him) and Gretzky.
Baseball is way too position dependent to even qualify for a GOAT conversation. Hitter? Pitcher? Closer? What's more valuable to a team?
