Picked up a Porsche 981 Boxster S

If all you are going to do is cruise around and speed a little more expensive cars are nothing more than expensive potential.

If you are a track guy and/or have some wide open roads to hammer on then its a different story.

It blows my mind when people buy a top tier performance car to go 15 MPH over the limit from time to time.

we got a 16 cayenne gts (wife's car). it is a completely different car than a base cayenne (have driven those also) and is a drivers car as much as a 5,000 pound SUV can be.

I sort of want to daily a 911 but worried it would be too small. my buddy who has had a 911 and a panamera says front-seat-wise the 911 feels roomier than his panamera, which I found interesting.

Really depends on what you want out of a daily. Personally, I like acceleration and roominess. Anything like a Panamera, RS6/7, M6 ..... is going to be pretty perfect.

I love smaller cars though for cruising around in the middle of nowhere. I am a big guy but my Evora 400 is just the right amount of snug. It feels perfect bombing around back roads or on the track.

Expensive car only for the show guy is a thing. I like that guy though because he keeps his car in immaculate shape which is great for people looking to buy his car used.

never understood it. guys keeping their car in the garage 6/7 days of the week and the one time they take it out they keep it under 3k RPM. bor-ing.

Many 911’s appreciate in value too, so he may just be keeping it for investment purposes.

Enjoy launch control it while it's under warranty. The PDK is ~$28k to replace if it fails. Porsche will NOT repair it. They literally remove it, send it back to Stuttgart, and you receive a "refurbished" PDK.

I think the Boxster really lost it's appeal when they switched to the turbo 4 banger, I would much rather have one of the older flat-6 examples. It was always a poor man's Porsche but now it's clearly an inferior car to the 911.

I prefer the 6 cylinder as well. Thats why I went with a 981. It has the 3.4L flat 6.

The only people that refer to it as a poor mans Porsche are people that have neither a Boxster or a 911.

Well to be fair a Boxster isn't really the type of car you can be going around bragging about like nobody can afford one, it's a mid-tier sports car, an affordable middle manager type of car. The 911 is the type of thing you can have real bragging rights about because they can get legitimately expensive in a proper exotic car price range.

Regardless of saying you own a Porsche, it’s actually a great driving experience. If you haven’t driven one, I’d recommend it.
