I've done 4 now at 20 votes, all in the 8.2-9.4 range for attractive, trust is 4-6 and smart 7-8... I'm not smiling in any of them, all stern expression. I think irl i'm like a 7-8 irl, but in potato mode atm, I think i just have good photos, dslr selfies lol (chicks into photography dig this on the sites)

It seems very polarized, and I think it’s becuase women tend to have a much wider variety of what they find attractive (or don’t). They have a “type” that ranges more broadly than male preferences.

ive found the complete opposite of this. Guys find a more variety of women attractive and women have a much narrower veiw of whats attractive. The OKcupid data backs this up.

The OKC data I have in mind just shows that men rate attractiveness (on a scale) more fairly than women overall.

I'm talking in generalities - I do think attractive people generally have it easier in life. I don't see how having that edge, much like a trait such as intelligence, wouldn't provide an edge.

It necessarily does but the question is whether or not it is salient. That's why I comment on these IQ posts on the Misc: for anyone brought up in gifted programs / skipped grades, aced IQ tests etc...you grow up and guess what? IQ means chit.

Far more salient skills are those as you say: attractiveness, which can be unpacked in different ways. And if you turn heads when you enter a room it is what it is...and no amount of personal anecdotes about models having sad lives will change that.

Tl;dr I really agree with you Luc but it is a bit of a sad fact.
