Does anyone remember the H1N1 swine flu back in 2009? It was a type of flu that was just as contagious as coronavirus and was lethal to young adults and kids especially and not older adults. 80% of the deaths were people under 65. It started in Mexico and spread all over the world infecting 1.4 billion people according to the CDC. But I don't remember any panic or quarantine situations here in the States...heck they didn't even close the borders to Mexico. I remember at most they made sure they had hand sanitizers in schools but there was no other action taken other than washing your hands with soap and staying away from people who are sick. We didn't even shut down schools. So what's different now?

Jesus, COVID-19 isn't the ****ing super harbinger of death and destruction. The virus itself doesn't ****ing cause permanent lung damage. Any time you get pneumonia you can have lasting short term effects which usually clears up in the weeks after it's gone. In extreme cases, which there are likely quite a few of, it cancause permanent damage ie: scar tissue in the lungs.

The sensationalizing has to ****ing stop with this damn virus.

pneumonia usually u can get long lasting damage though. i still have damage from when i was a kid. constant clearing up chest. i think it's pretty common with pneumonia

with my pneumonia i also had asthma for 2 years after

Would be interesting to see as a published manuscript. I'm particularly interested in how many patients were potentially lost to follow-up.

Regardless, that's one of the combinations that we are banking on, and we're hoping the randomized controlled trials will show a benefit.

Go to the CV total deaths graph over time.
Make the y axis log
If the slope is linear, the growth is exponential.

For trend for the past 3 weeks is very close to exponential growth. There’s always day to day variation, but look at the trend.
