Stopped following ages ago but a Misc thread brought me back to see what's up and I'm confused.
How'd we go from larger than life living action figures:
To these skinny fat twinks:
It used to be a joke Vince loved bodybuilders, wtf happened?

I am sure most of them lift(except the fatties like Bray and KO). Just that they are natty and prefer/afraid to do the oj. Nothing wrong with that as long as they deliver. But yeah, top champs should look like heroes and swole(nh).

NXT is a pretty hostile territory to big men with limited wrestling experience. All those tall jacked guys like Tino Sabatellis and Dan Mathas just being jobbed or not appearing at all. Rusev was an afterthought on NXT and was pushed to the moon on the main roster. Strowman got lucky to be able to bypass NXT entirely.
WWE keeps signing bigger guys, but they end up getting lost in the shuffle beetween way more experienced indy guys with an established fanbase. As awesome as NXT is as a show, I sometimes feel it is not really a developmental territory anymore and more of a platform to exhibit already over indy darlings.
Anyone else remember when Bray was injured and he tricked people into thinking he had gotten lean with angles?
Same with Big Show.

no probably not. look it's no big news that vince appreciates a big ripped wrestler as his champ. that's one of the reasons Jinder got a nice little run with the title.
nothing wrong with it. big guys draw money from the casual viewer. it's never been a problem having a champion that looks like he can kick your ass. goldberg had 3-5 moves at most in his prime and made more money than probably any of these guys like adam cole.
john cena actually improved a ton over his career but even in the first half of it, we all knew he wasn't anything special in the ring, but money talks. it goes on and on.

Being on the road 300+ days a year and staying natty makes it impossible to put on lean muscle...

Meh I enjoy a lot of the regular sized guys' matches, a lot of them can do more in the ring and perform better than the jacked ones. Current champ Drew though looks awesome and is great in the ring so he's the best of both worlds. They also limit a lot of the guys' movesets for branding purposes. Like Lesnar is capable of doing a lot more **** in the ring yet they only have him do German suplexes and F5s.

Wow, with the Kofi Kingstons and Adam Coles etc let's bring Spike Dudley back. Maybe he can be the new WWE or Universal. Last year when Raw was in St. Louis I saw Murphy, Riccochet, Elias, Finn, etc. at Gold's across the street. Anyway when I look at anyone but Elias I thought, "Dude I have enough spec op training and grappling from Yudo and Hapkido, I would destroy you in a non scripted environment."
Rewind to 1990, "Royal Rumble" dark show Saturday prep show at the Show-Me-Center in Cape Girardeau. I saw Hogan, Macho Man, Perfect, Warrior, Piper, Hart, the list goes on. They worked out at Universal Physique for a week. All my mates in High School went and met them. Got to hang out with Jake and my Uncle Mike was great friends with Randy.
Guys like that you look at and believe they can legit take you down Smackdown avenue in a primal way. These modern guys remind me of a Jet Li movie without the wirework.
Let's look at the evolution of fitness centers. To use Ronnie Coleman's phrase, "Everyone wants to be a bodybuilder but they don't want to lift heavy weight." So you have cross fit, places like Planet Fitness, etc. just crazy.*Cardinals, Blues, Chiefs, MLS *
*PNBA Wheelchair Natural Mr. Olympia, Champion*
*Disabled US Marine Corps Combat Veteran 1992-1997*
