I was just planning to work on my profile this weekend. Hopefully I'll be adding a new certification to it but I've really never taken the time to fill it out very thoroughly. Do recruiters actually pay attention to what people have endorsed you for?

No they won't think anything of it, Linkedin isn't a tool for job searching, but for networking - this includes existing jobs. Make your Linkedin and put work into fleshing it out, then once it's ready start adding people you have worked with previously, along with employees at your current job too.
Once you have everything set up you can also enable to feature that shows you are looking for a job. All this does is tag your profile to show up for recruiters when they are browsing candidates for positions. It won't actually show on your page and it doesn't show up for your current employer either, so you don't have to worry.535 deadlift.

LinkedIn is flooded with fake profiles (see all the models and airline stewardesses in their bikinis) and Indians.
Ive used it for job postings and my inbox was spammed with applications from India from people who have no experience related to the industry, let alone the job description.
And good luck revealing all your hyped jobs and responsibilities online. Scammers love you!

This is why we can't have nice things. Made the mistake of sharing my startup on here one time when i had it several years ago, instantly got 1 star Google review. There are petty *******s on here that will go out of their way to try to fuk you, better to be safe than sorry.535 deadlift.

It's surprising to still see how few folks understand the value of Linkedin. When I had less experience I landed interviews at desirable companies that I would not have been able to get in the door otherwise. I work in a relatively narrow industry that is difficult to get into without specialized experience...that I didn't have. I reached out to recruiters and folks that looked like they worked in departments I was applying to. That got me in the door. I'm a big believer in Linkedin as a tool for career growth. There is no way I would be in my current position without it.

Just had a recruiter reach out to me about a new job on LinkedIn. Would add 50-100k/yr but going to pass. Happy in low cost of living area now (Dallas) and would have to relocate to Seattle (major competitor of current company). Will always have it as an option later as they frequently hire from where I work, so I'n not sweating it.
Keep that LinkedIn active, boyos.535 deadlift.

Was contact by a recruiter at a company via LI mainly about my experience from 6+ years ago for basically what would be a dream job for me. had an onsite interview yesterday, hardest part was they were asking me questions about things I did 6 - 10 years ago. Did well on the culture and recent job related questions. Wish me luck, I wasnt looking for a new job when I was contacted. Should know in 2 weeks if they want to bring me on.Black Crew

I was on page 3 before i realized this is a 2017 thread.
How's LinkedIn in 2022 for people in the mining/refining field? (Chemical Engineer degree)
I work for one of the country's top companies.
Pay/income is above average but salary is mediocre.
50 hour/week monday-saturday with 1 hour commute each way(12h/week) total (62h/w)
Not much to do in town and not many services. On the other hand it's far away from clown world (ignoring company's policies which are gay AF. IE You can get booted for bringing your cellphone to work, don't wanna expose environmental bs LUL)
Currently supervising the workers. Mood is pretty chill and lulzy with the old@ss country people.
Most of the high rank people got promoted after 10-25 years in the company lul. Fuk this gay earth.

I'd say it doesn't hurt, especially if you're looking for a job. I think it's geared more towards white collared fields / clown corporate. But I used to work for a major engineering/construction firm and most of them used it heavily as well. The new recruits anyways. The older folks using it were only the office people.

I've never used linkedin. I work in construction sales for my family's company. The type of construction is kind of a niche depending on weather. I do decently well(depends on how that's defined these days) but apart of me always wants to climb new mountains. Would linkedin be good for me? I am not necessarily actively looking for a job, but I'd imagine it would be good to connect with others.
