I actually really don't know much about this expansion. Infact, the last few expansions I haven't touched.
For someone that hasn't played since WOTLK - is WoW going to be worth playing again do you reckon?

Came ITT to shoutout WOTLK Classic, srs. This has been a fairly fun nostalgia trip. It's not the same experience we had in 2007-2009 though... unfortunately. Lots of elitists, lots of min/maxers (engineering, TBC weapon usage for BiS openers, etc.), and in general it feels like players know more about their spec than they ever did before. But it's the closest thing we'll ever get to what WOTLK was like...

I was gonna ask this.
I had a great time with wotlk classic but now it just seems like you HAVE to do naxx to get the right gear to compete in pvp.
It was fun clearing it for the first time.. but only being able to do it once a week, dealing with elitists.. having to find groups etc.. I got turned off from it.
plus.. I played that exact game like 15 years ago? (or whatever it was)
so I stopped and have been playing nba2k23 on my pc and super addicted. Got to goat league and now I can just take it easy and play a few games when I feel like it.
Also only played shadowlands for a few months and havent played retail since.
Anyone know if theres a good way to prepare for dragonflight? or any info I should know?
I'll probably play my ele/ resto shaman
but the new talent trees are confusing as fuk
and are covenants still a thing? / importantDoordasher crew (SRS)

I liked when they were confusing back in the day, and min/maxxing required precision and hit and all that. Like in early wrath with fury warriors AGI gear was better than plate until you were Naxx+ gear. Many, many times entered into a heroic with randoms and they start clowning me for wearing hunter/rogue gear, and i proceed to double the DPS of everyone else.
Or I played combat rogue alot cause I liked it, and you had about 3 or 4 buffs and knowing when to spaz them at the right time together meant something.
That is what made it fun to me...Stern Crew

I'm in the beta and it's obvious that it was made during covid, that worker morale has been low, that the talent left the company, and that the budget for the game has gone way down.
They just aren't innovating whatsoever anymore and the expansion is pretty bare bones. 4 zones, new class, 8 dungeons, 1 raid. That's it. There hasn't even been a new battleground in years. Never mind new features like Legion and every expansion before it had (or even BfA and SL even though the new features flopped).
I didn't play all of the content, but it just seems low budget and low effort.
I'll probably still buy it though. lol. Just because I like Warcraft so much. And it's tradition to play it during December (Christmas break from when I was a student).Last edited by Kokanee; 11-21-2022 at 09:28 AM.

I'm not saying it's terrible. It's just that every expansion built off of the one before it and added something new. Even the bad ones like WoD had Garrisons even if they weren't well received. Legion took what came before it and fixed it with Order Halls in addition to adding artifact weapons, the Suramar zone, which was something different, mythic plus, world quests, and so on. Then they eventually released the mage tower.
Now they have stopped going through this process of fixing and innovation. They are just releasing the bare bones staples and nothing else. As I said, they haven't even designed a new BG in years. In BFA and SL they basically copy and pasted the Legion template, but a far worse version of it. Now, not only are they not innovating, but they are cutting corners due to an obviously diminishing budget.
I guess the new feature if you can call it that is the flying/dragon riding mechanic. But Blizzard is hurting so much with the lack of features to advertise Dragonflight with that one of the bullet points in their marketing is the UI update.

People really have a hard time reading in between the lines. Blizzard all but came right out and said this xpac will be bare. Nothing facny or innovative. They tried to spin it as a 'reset' or sorts back to the basics. But really between covid and all the internal blizzard turmoil they just cant make any good games anymore.
But REALLY what killed blizzard has been them hiring all the blue hair wokies who are talentless and only work in the games industry to poison it.
I still bought the xpac and will be taking a week off work to play it. But mostly for the PVP and why not.
The new dragon race is OP as fukk and everyone is playing it. Its thrown off all balance in PVP. And im betting the story will at BEST be just generic and bland. I HOPE thats what it is, instead of just dogchit like Shadowlands.
Youre NEVER going to get an interesting nuanced storyline from wokies.Last edited by Guyfawkes1010; 11-21-2022 at 10:05 AM.

I haven't done all of the questing just because I didn't want to spoil everything. I like the zones and questing better than SL just because it feels more like Warcraft and isn't full of retcons. I hated the story and aesthetic of SL. The first zone is pretty unremarkable. 2nd zone is kind of like Mulgore/Nagrand, but with centaurs. 3rd zone is thematically like Northrend and has gnolls and tuskarr, and the last zone I never quested in, but I ran around it and it looks a bit boring. The starting zone for the Dracthyr is also kind of boring. I like the 2nd and 3rd zones the most.
The story from what I've seen is just ok. Basically, some cultists called the primalists free some proto dragon that was imprisoned on the Dragon Isles. Then the dragons go to SW/Org to get the Alliance and Horde to come to the Dragon Isles to help them. These proto-dragons were originally followers of Galakrond, the giant proto dragon whose skeleton was left in Dragonblight in Wrath.
This expansion in terms of story is intended to be a bit like MoP. We're exploring a previously unmarked place and we don't yet know who the big bad guy is. But the Dragon Isles IMO are nowhere near as impressive as Pandaria was. Although that's a high bar.Last edited by Kokanee; 11-21-2022 at 10:11 AM.

Im most looking foward to dragon riding, pvp, and the new talent trees and hopefully better balancing. The story and questing ... meh if its cool, it will be something to do. But sadly I know it wont be FF14 story good. I swear its like the Japanese are the only ones capable of writing really good interesting stories now days. I guess thats what happens when you dont have a dogmatic SJW/femmenine culture.

Yeah, to list some positives, I actually like the dragon flying. I mean it doesn't make up for the lack of content, but it's superior to mounting as far as gameplay goes. And the zones are designed with it in mind. Lots of verticality and the zones are big.
I made a Dracthyr and I kind of like the class at least compared to other ranged classes. Although it was a bit hard to make a visage form that doesn't look gay.
Also, the Azure Span in terms of art/music is my favourite zone in quite a few years. Probably since Pandaria. It's like an updated Northrend zone with way more detail and huge pine trees everywhere.
Some screens I just took:

At first I thought they designed them to be LGBT/Pride oriented or something. They probably did. Pretty much every visage form looks like it would've been on queer eye for the straight guy back in the day.
I like how mine looks, but the difficulty was similar to making a highlander in FF14 that doesn't look like a retard.

Not a wow white knight despite my username but...
Besides the major new content (new zones, dungeons, raid, class etc), if you haven't played in shadowlands the game has gotten significantly better imo. Here's my major takeaways of DF as a shadowlands-sucked-dik-retail-quitter-but-back-for-DF:
No gay anima power/arti power/covenant systems
ALT FRIENDLY. leveling has gotten nerfed and is piss easy. You can 1 to 60 a class in a day with only a few hours. Also no grindy systems in df apparently so you're not tied to a main as hard. Chromie time also means you can level 1 to 60 in any expansion you want, so its a smart way to recycle old leveling content while avoiding repetitiveness
Talent trees feel good. They baked in previous expansions legendary powers and borrowed power (covenants/leggos) into the talent tree. There will be meta builds but rn in prepatch, there's meaningful tradeoffs and build diversity for the classes I've tried. They're well conceived imo
Pve is cross faction. Dungeons and raids completely cross faction.
M+ being buffed to be on par with mythic raiding rewards, but also difficulty increases. Overall the aim is to have smaller 5man content be on par with larger raid content for rewards. As a fan of 5man content, I'm looking forward to just pushing keys and not gaf about raids
Fated raids mean old raids can remain in the current cycle of progression. Also affixes in raids is actually an interesting concept, not sure how it will feel in the long run but since its new to me it feels pretty exciting

new talents and being able to switch with no restriction is fun as ****. Knowing I don't have to grind ****ing conduits again feels great. Idgaf about the new class or the leveling tbh. I just want to be able to jump into endgame once you hit max level and not worry about having to grind for legendaries, anima power, conduits before I can even raid.

Yea, they're using a renown system instead of the old REP grind, but this one is account wide, so catch up is WAY quicker.
Best part is if you take a patch off you're not years behind because there is no borrow power, it's just talents and gear. And gear can be had within a week, and even faster if you have a guild that's just farming.†Italian Crew†

About 10 quests in and I've already run into a non-binary dragon (who has a female vulpera form and a deep male voice) and 2 gay male dragons. Starting to regret buying this, lol.
I did them on beta, but I apparently didn't read very closely.
edit: less than half way through the first zone and now there is a gay human male couple. There hasn't been a single straight couple either.Last edited by Kokanee; 11-29-2022 at 05:31 AM.
