I totally missed your meet posting. I've been wrapped up lately. Congrats on the PRs! I am the same way on bench, stuck from my last two meets. Plan to change that this time around. Good to see you smashing squats!
Sucks about ms. pouty. I agree that they are rare, thankfully.
Great showing and cool that you saw from lifters from previous meets.

Did anyone see this video from MegSquats posted on Monday?
The video is Meg's submission to be Bodybuilding.com's 2018 spokesmodel. Her philosophy of why she lifts is the same as mine. Her goal is to be stronger (and build muscle of course) but not to look like a BB competitor or fitness model. She wants to be strong not lean. While I have the same goal and I love that she wants to change how women think they need to look like a fitness model or die trying I don't really think this is what Bodybuilding.com is looking for. People like Jaime Eason attract readers, sell supplements and women want to look like her. I think the pool of people who want to look like Meg or those that strength is their main goal is small. I would love it if more women did what they loved rather than what they think they need to do to look a certain way. The pool of those people is small though.
I'm curious how others feel about her chances.POWERLIFTING TRAINING JOURNAL

I've seen some of her vids over the past years and have been impressed with her work ethic. I think in something like this it's always about the bottom line. Whatever is going to sell the most will win. She does have a strong fan base going for her, so that may help. Would be cool if she won.

She is awesome. I heard her on a few podcasts and liked it. I would vote for her but like you said I don't know if she would appeal to the masses. I wish all girls looked like her though

I like her for a number of reasons. She's doesn't take herself too seriously, she wants to be strong rather than ripped. Also, because she's not the strongest woman out there it kind of makes her more accessible to me. Like, I can attain that if Meg can...whereas some women who are so bad-a$$ almost seem out of reach if that makes sense?
I'd vote for her but like Harry I wonder if 'the masses' want her or more people who fit the 'mould'.- Fallen Angel -

I guess I didn't notice last years search, but 2016 2nd place winner was Leanna Carr - primarily a PLer. So, it's not unheard of for some crossover, but she obs didn't win.
I'm not a huge fan of Meg, but her approach might work....I think it'll depend on who's judging. Since the contest requires stage presence/poses, I think strength athletes will be at a disadvantage when competing against IFBB pros who are experienced. (Not even thinking about what BB.com what to present to the world)
The difficulty with saying you are a bodybuilder (for mainstream audience understanding) when you are primarily a strength athlete, is that 20%+ BF which is healthy for female athletes, makes it hard to see muscle. And females usually already have lower muscle mass (ie, even harder to see). So of course they're going to go with someone who walks around at under 20%.http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=172554141

I did see her video, but I don't know about her chances. I think there's a lot of PLers on BB, and they'd love her message, but I don't know how BB themselves will feel. They're marketing to a certain crowd, and their name is bodybuilding.com. That said, I wouldn't expect a larger muscular woman picked either. They seem to want to market based on what they feel is the "ideal" for male and female figure. I.e. Big guy, obvious builder, six pack, not so big as to make people think illegal substances. For women it seems strong/fit/toned, athletic looking, but not too big, and still "feminine."
Bodybuilding is about building your body, and no it's not always the same body we're after, I just don't think bodybuilding wants to spread that message, and teach people that. They want people to see an ideal, and say "ok, I'll buy supps from you." Meg's got a great message, and I'd love to see them go in that direction, but overall I think BB wants a visual marketing tool.PRs: 95lbs/126lbs/212lbs

I wish Jenn would submit. She's lean as it is and when she cuts to 57, she has abs.

Seems like everyone thinks about what I did. It would be great to change the focus of the BB.com message but it doesn't seem likely they will do anything that doesn't market a certain look.

Meg's done a great job marketing herself to a wide audience. Entering the BB spokesmodel challenge will give her the opportunity to be in front of more people with her message. Smart as hell on her part. Not sure her placing matters as much as her exposure to the audience and the experience.
As far as Jenn, I liked it so much I bought the t-shirt! World class athlete and she is a Gen/Jenn!Journal- One of the Ogres

Nice lifting in here Penny! That was an extremely graceful bail on the SS miss. I always assumed trying to bail on a SS rep would shoot your hands/arms into outer space as soon as you ditched the bar.
