PPC are very fiscally conservative and socially conservative/libertarian. As you can see that’s the opposite direction a lot of Canadians wanted to go.

I like Bernier. I watched in real time as the national networks branded him as racist which was further solidified in the debate when Singh doubled down on it. I was speaking to a guy who didn’t watch the debate but saw that he was racist and wanted to stop immigration. That’s the tidbits people get. In reality he wanted to lower immigration numbers and focus on bringing talent to Canada. He couldn’t shake the label associated with talking about immigration.

An example of this: last year a woman in Quebec approached Trudeau at a rally about illegal immigrants pouring through the border in Quebec. Trudeau shut her down saying that racism has no place in Canada. What he implied is that even talking about immigration must be racist which is the type of bs we should be above in this country.
