Hey all,
I have a question about the best drink for during workouts. I've been drinking BCAAs alone during my workout, however, I have read that drinking a carb supp like Vitargo is more effective for gains. Any experience around this? What did you find to be most effective for gaining?
Thanks!

Generally speaking more calories help put on more size and carb supplements are fast digesting calories so that would be the better option but if you can do without an intra workout supplement and consume calories from nutrient dense carb sources i.e. fruits, veggies then it would be ideal
My secret? Texting between sets.

More effective than what? It's just calories. As Eatyourspinach said, if you need extra carbs/calories, then okay. But it's not going to be more effective than carbs/calories at any other time that you use to meet your macros.
Hypertrophy is driven by a caloric surplus to TDEE, weight training with progressive volume and getting rest. That's it. Intra-carb supps and other possibilities are helpful if you're doing endurance work or have goals in that realm. Meaning if you're training >2.5 - 3 hours at a time. Since weight training is not an endurance play, these supps are of little value."I'm pretty sure your wrong, but care to elaborate..."

Drink water intra, and eat whole foods outside and around your workouts.
Supplement a good diet: don't diet on supplements.

Hey everyone,
Thanks! This has all been helpful. I started drinking aminos during my workout a while back because a trainer I was working with recommended it. I may go ahead and get a carb drink for the extra calories. I've been working on increasing the amount of food I take in but adding some calories through an intra drink would help in the meantime.

Carbs are vastly superior to BCAAs and contain the exact same calories per gram.

If your low on energy and havent eaten in a couple hours, then intra nutrition is valuable by restoring your energy, which you wont run out of gas
