The correct move.“As we vaccinate thousands of Oregonians each day and reopen more school buildings and businesses as safely as possible, now is not the time to let up our guard. New, more infectious COVID-19 variants are circulating in the United States, including several confirmed cases in Oregon. We will continue to keep each other safe in the months to come by following the same safety measures we have throughout the pandemic—wearing face coverings, staying home when sick, maintaining physical distance, and avoiding social gatherings.”

My governor wants to remove the mask mandate; he is getting pressure because Abbott failed during SNOWVID-21 and Cruz made the GOP look bad.

"We’re working right now on evaluating when we’re going to be able to remove all statewide orders and we will be making announcements about that pretty soon," Abbott said.
He put the order in place and closed bars on July 2 during a spike in coronavirus cases.
They dropped sharply under the order but began to rise again after Labor Day and with the easing of some restrictions on restaurants and bars.
Abbott has faced sharp criticism from some Republicans over his use of executive orders to issue statewide pandemic restrictions.Life is easy when you take personal responsibility

Does it really even matter?
People who want to are going to continue to wear masks and social distance. People who don't want to will continue to not. I really don't think there is a large group who will go maskless immediately just because the mandates are lifted.Boomer Rep Crew #1

Yeah wait til the alphabet agency report of what businesses should be open and are essential and which businesses are not necessary. Then we can just do away with all businesses that are no longer needed. You can just hop on a new welfare train and shut up about your idea to open “xyz business”. It’s no longer needed. The government will get to decide which citizens can open business from now on!
This will be so great! Land of the freeeeee!
