Shawn Ray: How did he not a Mr. Olympia Title???

Surely Shawn Ray would have done a lot more to promote bbing in the 1990's compared to Dorian. Ray looked great and was a great speaker and he could have promoted the sport a lot more. How did it benefit bodybuilding to have Dorian win and then just run back to the UK? How was Dorian good for bodybuilding?

I guess a negative with Ray was he positive drug test in the early 90's...

Dorian broke the mental.barrier of coming in 240lbs + peeled. He started what Ronnie carried over..

He beat Shawn in terms of size n conditioning both. Ray couldn't touch him. If u care so much about the gut , go see his mandatory poses.

Other than that Shawn has always been considered as a cocky , self-righteous man. People never really loved his off stage persona much from what I know. But a phenomenal physique nevertheless.

I believe Dorian deserved all his titles except 1994 Mr O.

Srs. I asked about his conflicting stories about the 91 Arnold in a thread. Sadie immediately starts sending me pms going off. Then Shawn starts sending them. A week later I get a pm from her saying when Shawn was at her house, he showed her the pms. I asked Shawn if his wife knew about this. He got on my account and posted on threads acting like me for 6 hours. Then he banned me and my ip. I changed my Ip and made a new account. I had some hillarious pms about Shawn from priest. I miss that big armed ****er. I remember when he talked **** to Rich Piana. Now remember at this time Rich is like 280 and Shawns 200 lbs of chub. He basically said I thought you learned your lesson from Greg reid. He got knocked the **** out. let me check and make sure that was the guys name. **** was funny.

I think he likes those pros more with whom he can relate to.. He can certainly not relate to Cedric. Maybe he's got that inferiority complex for being short that some people have.

Not really. If you see his posts , he is too easy to provoke , loses his calm.. Starts getting personal and bashing all the other athletes too sometimes. If he had won , he would have become the cockiest. Not in a good way.

Not surprising coming from a guy who retired in 2001 because Kevin Levrone turned in his Olympia paperwork late and was still allowed to compete.

Top place in the open>top place in 212. There are some guys who compete in the open, like Dex, Branch, Bonac, Lesukov (and a couple of them with good results), even if they could be even better in the 212s. But the money and reputation are a lot bigger in the open.

It's just that Shawn had/has a big mouth and kept complaining about the height/weight difference. I'm sure that, even if it were a 212 division during his time, he'd still have competed in the open. Many 2-5 placings with the greats of the 90s-early00s, as he did it, is a lot better than being first in the 212 for years in a row and beating smaller and less known guys.

Marketing people promote bodybuilding, bodybuilders win bodybuilding shows... shawn wasnt good enough to dethrone someone who made him look like a lightweight on stage.
shawn was ripped, shawn had proportions with classic lines but he did not have what the 90's were marking highly, the freak factor.
Like bob paris and lee lebrada, they looked unreal on stage but they were always beaten by those with more mass
