I think it’s more implicit and specifically in academic / professional contexts. A 5’6 Asian guy is probably treated different in an engineering company than a 5’6 Black guy- I’m pretty sure people will just start out with the assumption that the Asian guy will be competent and be more likely to view his ideas and contributions more seriously.
