27 puts him at 3rd highest paid, which will make him like top 10 highest paid in 2 years.

i don't think it makes sense to pay him now. they have a 1st place schedule this season and higher expectations. let him guide the team back to the divisional after this year and then he can command what he wants. and if he is able to take this team far then the team shouldn't really have any issue with paying him. sure it'll cost more than now but high-performing qbs are pricey, and i'd be okay with that if it meant he took the team on a run. if he doesn't take this team far, if they bust and miss the playoffs, and if he struggles like he did for a large part of this past year, then his stock probably drops.
of course i'm in the camp of searching for a better long-term qb so i'm biased. i'd wait to let this year play out.Discipline is the bridge between goal and accomplishment

Curious.
How many good qb's can you list before you get to Dak.
If it gets difficult, ask yourself who you want in the 4th quarter on your team.
Brady
Rodgers
Brees
Mahomes
Rivers
Wilson
Ben
Baker
It honestly gets hard for me after that, Watson WILL cost you a game.
Stafford, Dalton, Goff and Ryan are all mentally weak.***Traditional Wet Shaving Crew***

The thing that kills me about the article is that it ends with the writer still talking about daks potential. At 4 years in he is the QB he's going to be for the rest of his career there's not going to be a miraculous uptick in his performance. At the end of the day ask yourself if you can see him winning a SB because otherwise what's the point.

I mean regular season wins are fine but ultimately all you need to do is make the playoffs and then everything resets and I'm tired of divisional round bounces. I get it that Dak needs to get paid but he just better be prepared for the criticism when the defense isn't performing as well down the line because they can't afford to sign key players due to his contract. Unless you're the Patriots the window to win with your core group of young talent is only a few years in today's NFL.

The only way you lose your young core is if you draft poorly.
A 27 million dollar contract would in no way hamstring this team unless he goes full Stafford.***Traditional Wet Shaving Crew***

I hated Romo's 3rd contract
they paid him over 21 mill last year and he wasn't even in the league.
I'm not necessarily "for" top 3 pay for Dak but with the salary cap going up and the qb contracts that are coming down the pike. His top 3 won't be that 1.5 years after he signs it.
If they let him play it out then I'm all for it, just hope they have a plan either way.
Edit: I also thought that Brandon Weeden was good draft pick and hated Tyrone Crawford, know a bit more about football now than then but I'll still be wrong all the time.Last edited by headinahole; 02-13-2019 at 06:44 PM.

I'm pretty confident they will keep it up. Their decision making and personnel decisions have been really good the last few years. Letting players walk, and not over paying. Taking calculated risks ( Amari, Jaylon)
Either way though, Dak/Zeke/Amari/Tank is going to eat up a lot of space.6'1 - 240lbs

Out of the 4 mentioned, he is the odd ball out. Offense is nothing without Zeke, they are committed to Dak, and no chance Cooper was a rental after his impact last year.
I do fear Tank may be hitting FA. Not a lot of depth on our line either.6'1 - 240lbs
