Keep a loaded 1911 .45 in a quick access fingerprint gun safe on my night stand (I have kids , no choice ) and a good old Louisville Slugger tucked away next to the bed. First line of defense is my 100lb Chocolate Lab who absolutely does not like to be woke up in the middle of the night... lol

Not intentionally because I think I'll need to wake up and shoot people but I do have 2 guns within arms reach from my bed, just because that's where they go. Shooting an intruder with the AK pistol would probably not be the best choice. I'd have to ask him to wait so I could put on my ear protection first so probably only 1 counts as a viable "weapon"

Im not too worried about it, I dont carry that gun and if I go to the range I have 4 10 rounders to use. Theres been what, 1 maybe 2 arrests having to do with magazine restrictions since 2012, and those were just tacked on to other more serious offenses. If I have to shoot at someone unlawfully entering my home because I cant escape, having 5 more boolits in my mag will be the last thing on my mind.

Having said that, my EDC pistol is a 938, which is a 6+1 single stack 9mm.

Lots of gun owners sleeping with a weapon close by. But has anyone taken a class on Low Light Structural Defense, Defensive Carbine, or Defensive Pistol? If the fight comes to you, training might just keep you alive.

Are you kidding that's absolutely the best choice. If you miss he'll be disoriented as hell from the bright ass muzzle flash and the concussion of shooting a 7.62 in a confined area. Only downside is you probably will be too but you've got 29 more chances to hit him lol

You'll also be dealing with your neighbors and family after you've shot all of them as a few sheetrock walls don't stop or even slow 7.62 rounds. That's not a good home defense weapon.

I've never had a single issue in the US that would require me to defend myself in any fashion. I live in a nice neighborhood where the only thing I have to worry about is my old ass neighbor across the street taking pictures of my car and sending it to the HOA if I double park for even 1 minute. Yet I still keep a loaded gun in a safe by my bed. It's lovely to not have to need it, but on the off chance that I do need it, I'd rather have it.
