I haven't posted ITT in a while but I think it so fuking funny how quickly the media went from, "Don't wear a mask, it won't help you" to "For the love of god please, make a mask out of whatever household items you have!!"

The media is like the majority of the populace...a bunch of idiots who lap up whatever the politicians tell them. Many of us knew damn well from before this started that masks help. That's just...duh. The media, again like most of the populace, refuses to use critical thinking or do their own legit objective research.

People are sheep, including most of the members of the media.

Something I hope at least a few people learn from the mask thing is to turn off the ****ing media and re-learn how to think critically

Speaking of the Spanish flu, I understand that it really started in March, faded a bit over the summer and came back worse the next winter. Even the fast hopes don't have a vaccine out by next season. If it does seasonal.

Unfortunately there is a good argument to be made for how and why these zoonosis events are becoming more common and the trend will continue/worsen. And overall our ability to travel and transport viruses is only getting better as is our population density and close quarters living

3/4 report to have turned the corner and symptoms improving. Grandpa hasn't yet, home blood ox (the fingertip thing) says 98% for grandma but only 93% for him and he isn't breathing the best and feels like ****, but the local docs and health dept that check on their cases (by phone, they live at home) haven't decided to admit them so there's that. One of the threshold they were told, literally, is to hospitalize for, as an example, a fever of 104*. That's crazy high but I guess they don't want non-critical people in any hospitals right now

No family members for hundreds of miles. My aunt (good one, different one) has seriously considered driving there for awhile but there's so much risk and not a lot of reward she's been told not to by enough people to listen.

Hopefully non admittance stays that way. Hydrate and monitor for now it seems

'Play It Again Sports' at times have good deals on plates but it varies widely. Seeing that everyone has been scrambling to put together home gyms, you might be late to the dance but it doesn't hurt to call and ask.

If you are getting groceries delivered, it's not very hard to sanitize the surfaces. You can buy only food that is contained within a sealed package, sanitize the outer, done. Takeout...you have to assume the whole thing is contaminated and possibly the food itself.

Based on current info, the chances of catching it via eating food is incredibly low?

Well when it first started I just didn't want to believe it period, hoping that the numbers would magically stop going up out of nowhere and i'd continue life as normal. Add on the fact my bosses from both jobs were saying the media is blowing this up and it isn't THAT big a deal and voila, that was my attitude. Also was thinking this would go away with the warmer weather like the flu, when in reality there is zero proof of that and it isn't going anywhere for a long, long time. It's super depressing to be honest man. I was making almost 1300 a week between both my jobs, and that's kickass money for where I live. I doubt i'll ever make that again in a restaurant.

Your bosses have no reason to tell you anything but sunshine and rainbows. Then, when they lay you off inevitably, they'll say it was the "hardest decision" of their lives.

When it was blowing up in China and eventually made its way over to the rest of the world, it was time to panic. Viruses don't magically stop dead in their tracks because they enter the US border.. and the Western world lives in a strong, strong bubble where they think they're invincible.

At least you turned around on this which is better than people going to the grave and swearing "it was just a flu" bro. The death count on COVID doesn't even include the people who can't get non-COVID help because all the hospitals are either packed w/ COVID and/or they don't want to risk themselves getting COVID.

Yesterday I accidentally let that icing container drop out of my fridge onto the floor and roll around for a couple seconds, before picking it up and putting it back in the fridge (no icing fell out)

Today I held that icing container before using the same hand to hold my cinnamon rolls while I spread the icing on there with my other hand
