Fiocchi at 32.3 cpr, PMC at around 34 cpr, etc. Would go for Fiocchi, PMC, Federal, Prvi...honestly I'd rather shoot Wolf than Frontier if it's through one of my practice guns.
When steel ammo was not that much cheaper than brass, it made sense to just shoot the better brass cased ammo. The steel cased stuff is now roughly half the price (Target Sports has Tula for 21 CPR - bear in mind that I was paying 26 cpr for Fiocchi before the Rona - versus 40 cpr for brass cased ammo) so it's almost worth it if you're shooting enough of it.This account was created for the purpose of roleplaying and satire. Steel ammo is fine for most training and plinking purposes. It's not as reliable, or clean, and tula is the worst in 223 (though some tula made is branded a wolf anyway), but, it works for training purposes generally. When the price difference is big, it's a viable choice

The Barnaul made is definitely the better of the two over the tula manu
It's all filthy and a no-go anywhere that disallows steel/bimetal bullets (many indoor ranges, outdoor ranges often if it's dry fire season) due to sparking and fire hazard.
But other than that, to continue answering the previous question, it's fine range us ammo

I hear you guys on price difference. Just throwing rounds down range at almost a $.25 less would be a logical move. BUT as Bro says, it sounds dirty AF. For one I don't really have a place to clean my AR properly (not a man, no excuse, I know lol. I'm working on this.) and two this is my only AR and I don't want to beat it up. I'd like to keep it clean and to rely/use it for both defense/training. In essence make it last as long as possible until I can get something that will take a lickin and keep on tickin. Colt, DD, build my own etc.

Are there any biometric safes on the market that are reliable? Everything i see has some dude breaking into it with a paperclip in 20 seconds.

There's very little to regular 'cleaning' of an AR even shooting dirty. Get a boresnake, some patches/rags/old t shirts, some solvent, some lube...takes like 5 minutes. Deck, balcony, garage, put some newspaper (lol who has that any more) down over the table or counter, there's not much to it. It's not supposed to end up "clean", just, less caked with gunk, and lubed

Jamming isn't really an issue with it. A few things to bear in mind...
1) If you're shooting it, it won't expand to fill the chamber so you'll get a lot of fouling. Old Painless did a thread on it a while back...firing a few rounds of brass cased stuff at the end can help clean it out before you pack up for the day.
2) It's mild steel so will wear your extractor faster. Extractors are cheap though...you can easily swap out specific "steel case ammo" extractor if you want for cheap insurance. Not an issue IMO.
3) Main issue is throat erosion. It will erode your barrel's throat faster than other ammo since it's copper washed steel...very thin layer. You'll only get about half the life of the barrel versus feeding it nothing but regular brass cased 5.56. So around 5k=10k rounds instead of 10-20k depending on firing schedule. A little math...
At 350/case, 10k rounds of brass will cost you $3,500.
At 220/case, 10k rounds of steel will cost you $2,200.
You can buy your new barrel and still save $1,000. Most people won't put 10k through their rifle anyway. Just my opinion. This account was created for the purpose of roleplaying and satire. Most people definitely aren't putting 10k rifle rounds downrange, and if they do, most of those will buy an unnecessary amount of guns to spread the wear out. Or, just replace the barrel sooner

True. Very true. I'm over here thinking field strip after every other use lol. I should venture into some how to clean your AR or basic maintenance vids on the ole UTube. And even then knowing how to field strip your weapons and knowing your way around them is valuable and shouldn't be a second thought I imagine.
Damn, so much info, so much alpha. Humbling post Nuggz. Thanks. That said 3 13rd p2000 mags are on their way. I got them from https://www.topgunsupply.com/h-k-usp...-magazine.html.
Hopefully they are a good company because these magazines are very fukin scarce. That gives me 5 mags for the 9mm. Should be plenty to have some fun with and go to work with if needed.

Yes, Biden did say we should train police officers to, when facing somebody coming at them with a knife, shoot them in the leg.

Also one last question if you all don't mind. What's the proper way to bring all my stuff to an indoor range. I'm quite certain that if I were to put it all into a black duffel bag, except the AR, they wouldn't be too happy. Ammo in the duffel and guns in their / a case? Not loaded of course.
And also done on the .223 ammo. I bought a case of 200 when I first got the Ruger and it runs through it just fine. So now I got my 1000rds plus I have 61 rounds and change in mags and in the box.

What kind of range, where are you? Most people buy range bags to put everything in, and then a rifle bag/case for the rifle, or they lock the bolt open/use a chamber flag, and carry the rifle pointed up/down in that obviously unloaded condition.
These are super popular

Those are nice. Great price too. I'm in Indiana but haven't really taken the time to search for a range. I had a little land where I used to live and was planning on getting a few AR500 targets to shoot at. But sometimes life takes a turn on you. Trying to do right and what I can for myself right now.
I'm out for the night but I appreciate all the information. Stay safe MFC.
