This is a continuation of the "strength simplicity" journal that I had way back, remember that was a unique journal because it was based on simplicity yet hard training.

There's too much bullsharks out there and drug stuff, I'm in this for life. I won't let training rule my life, this journal will show approx. 2 days of training a week with continual progression, not hours and hours of bullsharks pump sets and obsessive diet thit.

Ok so now with Saturdays session, and then we are all caught up.

Went to the strongman gym, plan was standing strict overhead presses with 145 sets of 3 (which would be my best) and if I felt good hit a 4 repper.

Things gchange in the world of the Criten, I did what I said but with a little twist.........

I walked into the gym and saw a guy there I'd not seen in months, he has damn good upper body strength, but has trouble DL over 365. He is 240 and no fat at all.

I worked in with him on overhead pressing, he was supposed to do 5's with 165 but did a set of 9 with 175 strict as hell.

    Standing overhead press-

    warmups

    135 x 3
145 x 3 (the guy was saying keep going, I said next set).
    145 x 5 PR!
    last rep was ALL OUT!

Back Squats (low bar) just below parallel-
    135 x few
    185 x few
    245 x few
    285 x 6
    295 x 1

Just getting a feel for these low bar, low bar I can do every week without back pain. The bottom up squats I did last week were low bar too.

    Tuesday 7/13/21

Normally I train on Wednesday, but I had an opportunity to on Tuesday, so it's been 6 days since last dead lift day.

    Dead Lift-
    220 x 5
    270 x 5
    320 x 2
    360 x 2
    390 x 3 short rest, 410 x 1

I was going into this just thinking 2 for 390, but felt I should do another. Should get at least 7 days till next DL now, thinking I'll do a slight elevation and go a td heavier for reps, we'll see.

I may get some power curls in later in the week and Saturday the strongman gym is moving locations, helping with that, will just lift random stuff like cretin do.

Thanks, have you tried rack pulls a few inches higher with around same weight you dead lift? I find that’s less stressful. Or very light for 20-30 reps?

Update from this week, one of the best weeks I've had in a while. Recovering from my back injury has made me stronger in Dead Lifting, my pressing is going up along with my squat.

Wednesday - Dead Lift (elevated with two dimes, whats that like 1.5-2") up to 415 x 4 (vid is in BH thread) this is PR territory and it felt so good I'm gonna do 425 next week for a couple.

    Saturday-

    Floor press starting from bottom-
    135 x few
    165 x few
    180 x 5 PR
    195 x 1 PR
    195 x 1
    200 x 1 PR

    Bottom up squat at parallel-
    135 x few
    225 x few
    255 x 1
    295 x 1
    335 x 2 PR for reps
    365 x 1 PR

Light hang squat cleans and strict press up to 149, haven't done in months, was very easy.

    Hey you phuckers...........................

I been posting vids, that's why I don't post here.

But Friday (last night) I ended up training, no vids.

I finally got to try out my gyms dead lift bar, it's one of those bars that is flexy, I squatted first...............

Squat, lowbar and explosive, low reps-
    135 x few
    185 x 2
    225 x 2
    255 x 1
    295 x 1
    320 x 1

Dead Lift using the real dead lift bar-
    225 x few
    275 x few
    315 x 3
    365 x 3 smooth
    405 x 3 smooth.

Well, that bar is certainly way smoother than the bar I use, once the weight gets off the floor, it flys up pretty quickly.

Went home ate a whole pizza and drank a couple beers, I normally don't drink after training, but it is Friday night.

I like my bar because it is harder, I will continue to train deads in the garage with my bar that does not flex, only from time to time I will use the advantage of the flexy bar.

I felt very beat up this week, probably those stupid walkouts I did with 500, it wasn't hard at all, but I don't recover the way I did 20 years ago. Next time I'll walk back and forth twice without racking it for hoe moes with over 550, don't know when, it's gotta be a day I'm not wasting time with that BS.
