I was all ready to buy a Tacoma and then saw the F150, it's a trade in and my favorite color etc so I am thinking about it. Just not sure I trust the twin turbo engine for the 10 years I plan on keeping it. My last work truck I kept 15 years.
    Finally green! Green green greeeeeeeeen!

You realize semi's have turbo diesel engines right? Turbos utilized as add-ons grenade engines that aren't designed for the added horsepower they give. You'll break each and every weak link in the drive train until everything can handle the power. Obviously when you build something with 450ish HP in mind things don't break as easily until you start pushing the boost higher than originally spec'd.

This is a very broad assumption... I have had 2 turbo cars which weren't boosted from the factory that I beat on like a red headed stepchild... one of which was a LS powered foxbody. And even engines that were designed for it can easily turn into shrapnel when the boost gets turned up. A lot of it is in the tune and of course knowing the limits of your set up.

Get a full sized truck or buy a car, SRS. Never understood these little trucks. Idiots say "why do you need a full size truck" and it's like, "when you do and you don't have one, you'll know". The F150 is reliable. Perhaps the Tacoma is a little more reliable, but if the difference in reliability makes that much difference to you, you aren't a truck guy, go buy a car. If you really like the Toyota, get a Tundra, but Japanese trucks are not trucks like American trucks. I don't even care for the F150, I'm a Chevy guy who has two Silverados but wouldn't even think twice to get the Ford.

I'm not a big fan of Turbos. They have their drawbacks, especially in the long run. I'd suggest getting the 5.0L V8 option.

If an engine is designed for turbos then it comes with the turbo. Adding a snail and running 20-30lbs boost and pretending that's what the vehicle is made for is going to grenade it. What I am saying is if you don't fuk with it the Ford ecoboost holds up very well. I'm not talking about dudes who tinker and tune their trucks with bigger turbos or turn up the boost.

I get what you are saying but I think you are over estimating what car manufacturers actual provide. Take for example the 99-04 Ford Lightnings... Supercharged from the factory so using your theory they were designed for boost... Nah , Ford slapped a supercharger on top of a basic bitch 5.4L you can find in any 1/2 ton truck of those year models.

Whether they design it for boost or not anything can take a $hit on you when you start pushing it... and what fun is leaving is stock. You have to pay to play
