Itβs more realistic for them to make parts of the ventilators, maybe make the automated parts and computerized bits for the screens. Even easing the supply chain for the medical devices companies to spit out these ventilators would help.
Even major medical devices companies can only make 20-30k ventilators a year. If automakers can make sure they have no supply bottleneck, itβs more feasible then saying Tesla is going to make 250k of these in weeks. They said she's gone too far this time

Yesterday was 14 days since chit got real (NBA/NHL suspended seasons, concerts and other large public gatherings canceled), so with a 14 day incubation period, this is the time when we should start to see some effect and the exponential infection rate this week has decreased from 35% to 25%. We still weren't told to do social distancing all the time yet and schools & restaurants weren't closed, so as we get into next week, we should see even more slowing in new infections.
Since I think everyone understands that this only represents the positives in the people that are getting tested and nowhere near to total actual infections, as an accurate measure of the rate of spread, it is dependent on the testing standards staying constant over time as well. So far, I think they generally have - testing is only done for people who are either already in the hospital in serious condition or who have symptoms and fall into an at-risk group (elderly, underlying conditions, healthcare workers / first responders). If that standard changes in either direction (either everyone can get tested or they stop testing), then the measure will no longer be consistent enough to use.

Thereβs no way testing standards have stayed consistent since this began
Not sure if srs if you really believe that"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

I get what you're saying, but the US is a huge country, with some areas winding down (Washington state for example), others right in the middle of outbreaks (NYC), and some at the start of a potential outbreak (Los Angeles). NJ, New Orleans, and a few other areas are experiencing upticks currently, with testing seemingly rationed still to the more serious areas, we aren't out of the woods yet. I despise the MSM fear mongering, these are just things to note.
Virtue is its own reward.

The standards have been very consistent around here. As I said, from the start, the only people being tested are either people already in the hospital with symptoms or people with symptoms who fall into an at-risk group (elderly, underlying conditions, and healthcare workers / first responders). There have been more actual tests, but there are also more people to test and so far it appears that the increase in testing is just matching the spread of the virus because the types of people who are getting tests hasn't changed. If you have symptoms that are sufficiently mild and you're not at-risk, you're not getting tested, you're just told to stay at home and self-quarantine. There hasn't been a huge change in the percent of positives either, which has been 10-15%. If the testing criteria had been significantly expanded or contracted, you'd expect the hit ratio to change as well (i.e. if you start testing everyone, you're going to get a significantly lower hit ratio or if you only test people in serious condition, you'll get a lot higher). So, yes, I do believe the testing standards have been relatively consistent throughout this.

We're definitely not out of the woods at all. Right now, it's still getting worse, and in terms of the stress on the healthcare system, that's only going to continue to get worse for at least several more weeks as the people in the incubation period right now start to get sick. It's only the rate that the positives are increasing that is starting to turn, which is a positive sign that it might be under control in another month or so if we stay diligent about it.
I do believe that patient 0 in WA was nowhere near the first case of this in the US, and the number of people who had this between Dec & Feb is likely as many as a couple million. That's more of a head start towards herd immunity than anyone has incorporated into any of their equations yet, so I'm optimistic that that will help burn this out at least by summer, and it's not going to be a year long or 18 month long thing that some people have suggested.

I can tell you right now many politicians and secret groups are noting down what laws and intrusive measures they can get away with when they have their population all irrational and scared. This is a great testing ground to see how far they can push their authority without any rebellion.

I can't believe how many people are gullible to the fact the China's count has hardly budged and think that some western country has overtaken them in count at this moment. Not buying it. Plus even if they did they're not some communistic regime that orders people to stay in the homes for two months. A free(r) society would have a higher count regardless at some point.

Thanks iwant2beswole. Tried to post projections last night and was getting errors from the site.
Testing has been all over the place here in Arizona. We have people who have still not received results after 7 days. The average time to get test results back is 3-5 days.
That means that most of the daily reported positive test numbers from AZ are at minimum 3 days old. I think on a national level it is probably close to the same.βͺββββββββͺ Equipment Crew #53 βͺββββββββͺ
